On wide receiver DeAngelo Benton being away from the game for a year:
``You don't go to sleep a circle and wake up a square. We're excited about him.''

What if a circle sleeps for a whole year in a square shape?

Hey, Illinois, that's your kid in the picture I assume? Sorry, I almost didn't notice the kid.

On recruiting:
``We're going to take care of the home state, I can promise you that.''

Uh yeah...good luck with that.

On recruiting top players from around the country:
``He's going to have to tell us no - and more than once.''

I'm sure that will work, annoy the hell out of 17 and 18 year olds until they crack.

On being a receivers coach for offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn:
``I was stealing his offense, anyway, at Oklahoma State. Now, I can learn it.''

He has values folks...

I bet Nick Saban started shaking in his boots when hearing of this. Game over. Trooper Taylor is in da house!!!

Well considering what happened after Kiffin and Thompson put up a fence around Memphis, I'd expect a recruit from Alabama to commit to us any day now

Read the comments...

They think CGC is equal to Sabans in recruiting and running a program. That is hilarious.

To top it all off they are still talking about 2004...

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Trooper Taylor fan. I will give him this, however. He demonstrated that he can say things to energize his fan base without calling someone a cheater, without breaking the rules himself, without specifically calling out another coach. Saying "we are going to take care of the home state" is a far cry from saying "Saban isn't getting any more of MY recruits". Taylor comes across like a mature veteran compared to the it's-all-about-me childishness of Lance Thompson. I've got no problem with anything Taylor said. Like I said, I am no fan of his, and I'm not convinced he's that good of a position coach, but he is a good recruiter, and it's a good hire for Auburn.
