Old joke with a new flavor. And they thought it was a new joke.

Coach Nick Saban, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God showed him around. They came to a nice ittle house with a small Roll tide flag in the window.

"This house is yours for eternity, Nick," said
God. "This is very special; Not everyone gets such a cozy house up here."

Nick felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.

On his way up the porch, he noticed another house
towering above the others just down the street. It was a multi-story mansion with an orange and blue sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous Gator flag, and in every window, he could see Gator fans.

Nick looked at God and said "God, I don't want
to sound ungrateful, but I have a question".

God asked "So what do you want to know, Nick?"

"Well, why does Urban Meyer get a better house than
me?"

God chuckled, and said "Nick, that's not
Urban's house, it's mine."

They celebrate reaching 1/4th the NCs that we have and the best that they can come up with is that old recycle joke. Its been 15 years since I have heard it...for a reason.

What I find funny is the pause and silence the Gator fans come up with when I ask then to explain the disrespect Florida gets. That is to say why is it that a Florida team that won the NC in '06 and had the returning Heisman trophy winner from '07 is still thought of as #4 in the SEC? August started with LSU the defending NC, Georgia was voted the #1 preseason, and even an Alabama team that finished 6-6 in '07 spends 5 weeks at #1. How does such a team NOT get #1 a each of those points? I guess the Gators have to be thankful that they had two more games AFTER the season to salvage a year that any other school would have ridden wire-to-wire as #1 with.

You act as though no other joke has been redone for bama or auburn or uga or <insert>

Regardless of preseason rankings and blahdity blah. UF has 2 NC in the past 3 years, thats pretty respectable, and like Tebow or not, unless Bama beats UF at the Dome next December, UF will probably win another NC with Tebow.

</reality>

Apparently I failed to communicate my two points well enough Nate.

First, "respectable" is a good word, perhaps even a little short of what is earned, but it is not anything that will blow away a Bama fan -- the chosen target of this exercise in being a classless winner. Last year should have been a tone setter (i.e. UF fans should know better than anyone else that the "King of the Mountain" is all too easily knocked off.)

Second, given a NC and a returning Heisman Trophy winner, would USC spend 5 weeks behind a 6-6 UCLA? Or, an Ohio State behind a 6-6 Illinois? Or, a Oklahoma behind a 6-6 Colorado? No, No, and No. But a Florida did behind an 6-6 Bama, AND behind Georgia, AND behind LSU. That's 4th in the respect line!?! How does that happen?
