Tosh Lupoi addressed the media for the first time since being promoted to defensive coordinator in the offseason.

-- Lupoi said inside linebacker Dylan Moses has plenty of talent and has continued to develop.
-- Lupoi said the coaches are learning every day. He is working coverage assignments daily.
-- Lupoi called Alabama the "Mecca of college football." He added it was the most competitive environment at this level.
-- Lupoi said he has to process information quicker now that he is calling plays.
-- Lupoi said the goal is to be versatile in the defensive system.
-- Lupoi said the linebacker corps is versatile and there are players who are capable of playing both inside and outside.

Tosh sounds like he gets the media side of the college game. I know he gets the recruiting side of things. Now, can he coach? He really is starting his tenure as Bama DC with a lot of new faces in different places.

Isn't this a new development, I mean the coordinators having a press conference now? I think they were not allowed to speak to the press until postseason, in previous years. Is this Saban mixing things up a bit, to keep from complacency or something?

I always thought Coach let them speak pre-season, but never during the season and only during Playoff Media Days. I could be wrong, but pretty sure he let's the Freshmen speak pre-season and nkt again in the same kind of deal.

Yep. Each season we've seen the OC and DC at fan/media day.

What is different is seeing two QB's speak with the media. I don't recall that with any QB competition in the past.
