🏈 Let's talk about Saban and the 2pt conversion.

I was under the impression that you don't start going for 2 until the 4th quarter. It really does change play calling. To say that you have nothing to lose when going for it down by 11 is short sighted. I get what you are saying but there was still a lot of time left.
 
Everyone has a chart that gives the scenarios of when to go for two whether ahead or behind. We used it at both of the schools I have coached. It really boils down to 2 things; do you have a 2pt play you truly believe in and do you trust your guys!! If we had failed, it would've changed the play calling in the last couple of series. I had no problem with us running the ball. We simply needed 1 first down and the game woulda been over with us in the VICTORY formation. Only thing that bothered me was formation. The 2 TE formation with a tight wr brought everyone into the box. As a former HS OC, I woulda preferred spreading them out more to get them out of the box.
