I have been reading alot of doomsday commentary, but let's keep it in perspective. As I put in other threads, the Ole Miss, USCe, UT string of games involved defenses that were top 10 in at least one major statistical category each. Plus we go eight straight with no bye and the last five with Arkansas and UK along the way were very dang tough. So with that in mind:

1. A win is a win. Period.
2 See above about defense rankings.
3. UT is a good team and with our O not movng the ball, they were able to keep their 1s on D in the whole game. Depth is one of our strengths.
4. Yes, we are waayyyy too conservative on O, but CNS mentioned in the post-game presser that we need to get more aggressive, less conservative on O.
5. Eight games straight, three top 25s, five SECs in a row and no cream puffs (unlike Florida) among the last five including very tough Arkansas and Kentucky teams. The guys are gassed and deservedly so. The bye will provide much needed rest and a chance to re-assess what we are doing on O.
6. Julio was involved. This bodes well for moving forward.
7. Ingram got his fumble out of the way. You know it had to happen. Now he should go another 300 or so carries without again. I think the guy deserves a pass on this one.
8. The D impressed again. Tiffin and the D won the game. Defense wins championships.
9. Complacency and Heisman distractions should stop now. this team has plenty to work on with such a scare. As a result, this game will serve as a wake-up call for the O. It should also squelch all the Ingram Heisman talk which I think has been detrimental.
10. GMac threw over 50% and no INTs. GMac needs to get his mojo back and the McElwain needs to turn him loose a little bit more. This game should provide the impetus to do just that.

A win is a win and sometimes they come ugly in a championship season. I belive our Tide will come back after the bye Super-Strong for the final stretch. The bye comes at the perfect time.

PS - don't worry about all the whiners going on about "excessive celebration." The game is over and nothing can be done now. Plus Rolando fell on the ball. Danielson is a biased jerk.

I agree with all but number 9. I dont think complacency was an issue today. Everyone gave maximum effort and we pulled through fatigue without our best game.

I dont think Ingram will be out of the Heiman race with just that. He was HOT before the fumble, and the fumble came with 3 guys on him trying to strip the ball. I amm pretty sure that he still leads in all the categories he came in leading. If it looks like he isnt giving it his all I would have trouble with heisman talk, but that doesnt look to be the case.

The O may be too conservative but, in my opinion, it wasn't conservative when it should have been. We run the dang ball down UT's throat, get inside the 5, and suddenly we throw two incomplete passes. Run the ball, dang it!

Other than that...Roll, Tide!

I totally agree on all accounts....and let's just remember the other day some of us were commenting on how the 1990 game in Knoxville was one of the greatest games in this rivalry. Bama only won that game 9-6.....so this game is no different....and I'm sure Gene Stallings himself would tell you the same thing. A 12-10 victory in a rivalry game is the same as a 35-7 victory in any other game.

P.S....about the excessive celebration. Time had already run out, plus we recovered the ball....so Danielson is so full of crap. EVEN IF there was a penalty, it would have been Bama ball, with a 15 yard mark off.....we would have just downed it and ended the game.

Great Post! I agreed with most as well. I disagree with the Danielson comment though. Cody throwing off his helmet was not smart. With the problems of the refs these days...what if they'd called an unsportsmanslike conduct with :01 seconds left and got a re-kick, we'd all be crying foul today.

I think Danielson talks up Saban and Bama almost to excess at times. But he does know the game IMO.

This is already been said a million times, u cannot mark off a penalty that happens when the game is over. The ball crossed the line with double 0's on the clock by the time Cody removed his helmet, you cannot throw a penalty on a play that happened after the game was over. An SEC spokesman said it himself. Plus, it was Bama ball, change of possession just like a punt, had there been time on the clock it would've been 15 yard penalty on the Bama offense and we woulda kneeled it anyway. There would be NO re-kick.
