I have been reading alot of doomsday commentary, but let's keep it in perspective. As I put in other threads, the Ole Miss, USCe, UT string of games involved defenses that were top 10 in at least one major statistical category each. Plus we go eight straight with no bye and the last five with Arkansas and UK along the way were very dang tough. So with that in mind:
1. A win is a win. Period.
2 See above about defense rankings.
3. UT is a good team and with our O not movng the ball, they were able to keep their 1s on D in the whole game. Depth is one of our strengths.
4. Yes, we are waayyyy too conservative on O, but CNS mentioned in the post-game presser that we need to get more aggressive, less conservative on O.
5. Eight games straight, three top 25s, five SECs in a row and no cream puffs (unlike Florida) among the last five including very tough Arkansas and Kentucky teams. The guys are gassed and deservedly so. The bye will provide much needed rest and a chance to re-assess what we are doing on O.
6. Julio was involved. This bodes well for moving forward.
7. Ingram got his fumble out of the way. You know it had to happen. Now he should go another 300 or so carries without again. I think the guy deserves a pass on this one.
8. The D impressed again. Tiffin and the D won the game. Defense wins championships.
9. Complacency and Heisman distractions should stop now. this team has plenty to work on with such a scare. As a result, this game will serve as a wake-up call for the O. It should also squelch all the Ingram Heisman talk which I think has been detrimental.
10. GMac threw over 50% and no INTs. GMac needs to get his mojo back and the McElwain needs to turn him loose a little bit more. This game should provide the impetus to do just that.
A win is a win and sometimes they come ugly in a championship season. I belive our Tide will come back after the bye Super-Strong for the final stretch. The bye comes at the perfect time.
PS - don't worry about all the whiners going on about "excessive celebration." The game is over and nothing can be done now. Plus Rolando fell on the ball. Danielson is a biased jerk.
