I can't fault him for having it around on display if he really does. Very few schools make it to a NC game over even a 10-20 year period. It is the highest peak they have reached in the memory of some of the parents of the kids now being recruited (they last played for an NC in 1982 and lost to Penn State). So yeah, I would definitely use it to show how far they came last year. I would also use it as a motivation and recruiting tool. "We were this close to winning it all and we just need you to come here/buy in completely and we will win it all." Now, if they keep it around on display once they finally win one it becomes a little more meh.

Their 2nd place trophy is an achievement for the UGA program. It's something that most programs can't show off. Their program is on the rise, so it's a good thing to show. They're not Alabama.
