Guys I just can't help it. I mean, I wish him well. But man, WHO is this guy listening to???!!! I mean, did he think he was going to beat out Humphrey? Or beat out Minkah? Did he not have the guts to keep competing with Averett? Saban said 'Reps, reps, reps." What was he saying? Sounded like he was saying that Sheffield has the ability, the skill, but needs more coaching, needs to be more instinctive. He's trying to beat out a guy that's been here 3 years. I would hope he'd have more mettle than this. He'll sit out a year, so he'll be a redshirt sophomore somewhere else after a year on the bench at UA, and a year in JUCO. OR he could have been a STARTER as a sophomore at UA??!!! And a valuable back up or maybe a starter at some point this year??
As to how these guys are gelling with the new coaches, that's an interesting point. Certainly Pruitt is a different animal than Smart. I think that Pruitt brings some of his own attitude and ideas, and whether or not he comes across as an asshole, I like what I see from Pruitt. Would be VERY interesting to hear what the guys say about the difference between Mel Tucker and Derrick Ansley. Any coach has to be evaluated as a recruiter, but ultimately, can they coach you? Can they make you better? Would love to hear the perspective on each from the players.
Bottom line - this is being done Saban's way, for better or worse for Kendall, for Burgess-Becker, for Mo Smith. And I'm with Saban all the way.
Roll Tide!
