This is what I have a problem with....
"I am announcing today that I am taking a leave of absence from my position as the color analyst for the University of Alabama for the 2008 season to give me the time to vigorously fight the allegations that have been made against me,'' Stabler said in a statement.

No mention of getting help; no mention of dealing with a problem; no acceptance of any responsibility. That's what I have a problem with. Had he come out and said any of the above I would have been more tolerant. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the police wouldn't hand out a DUI without a sobriety test and/or breathalyzer. Call me ignorant, but how do you
fight those as Mr. Stabler is planning to do??? ;scr I know a 1st one can be fought but a third?
You're not likely to hear any mention of getting help, having a problem or accepting responsibility until after his charges are resolved. He released a written statement which was most likely carefully worded by his attorneys so that nothing can be used against him if he chooses to take his charges all the way to trial. He has the right to have his day in court, he is innocent until proven guilty, he can choose to tell his side, which may differ from the police officer's story, or he can choose not to testify. There are many factors upon which an officer can decide to arrest someone for DUI. It can be his driving, the way he smells, his eyes, and a person can refuse the officer's request for field sobriety tests, blood tests, breath tests. It could be the officer's word against Kenny's. I have no idea what happened there in R'dale. I have not seen enough of the details anywhere to even know what happened. Every charge can be fought. It's a different story whether it can be won. First order of business for Kenny's attorneys is to hope that 11 more just like jocephus sit down in that jury box.
