Yeah. Secretariat. 'Big Red' was much too big to run the way he did. Gawd I loved that horse! Could watch this every day:

"He is moving like a tremendous machine!"

That horse is still one of my favorite athletes human or animal ever. He was too big, too fast, and too athletic for any horse they loaded into the gates against him. I absolutely loved that horse

I absolutely love Secretariat. I was still a little too young to remember him back in the day, but I have always been fascinated by him and have many books and videos on him. That video clip is classic. I also like the sequence from the Preakness when he passes the field on the outside ON THE TURN! I was very excited when they finally awarded him the Preakness record, meaning he set records in all three Triple Crown races when he ran and still holds two of them; Kentucky Derby and Belmont. He was the greatest racehorse of all time!

In a sport where records are usually held by no more than 2 or 3 hundredths of a second it is safe to say that no horse will ever come within 2 or 3 full seconds of his Belmont record. A horse on the same pace would drop dead before they reached the finish line.
