Yeah, Muschamp is one of the few exceptions. Richt is one as well. (Shula had a pretty good season too, er wait the wins don't count).

Seems that the guys who had HC experience prior do a better job.

If they promote an Assistant to HC, they aren't in it to win if you ask me. Name the last successful OC/DC to SEC HC... This goes for any school in the SEC.

Guess it depends on how you define "successful".

If there was one example of a HC in waiting that actually made a little sense it was Joker, IMO. A Rich Brooks protege', for lack of a better expression, with strong ties to UK.

Stoops to OU fits. Strong to Louisville doesn't look to bad at the moment. Petrino to Louisville wasn't a bad move either. Dabo? Jimbo? Taggert?

It's impossible to put the Coordinator to HC in a box. Heck, it's impossible to say "he's going to make a great coach" in a box either. There are so, so many variables that come into play you literally never know what you get until you see it happen.
