🏀 John Petty gets bump to 5 star status on Rivals.

About a month and a half ago, maybe two months, Rivals had an article published about 4 star players who may get the bump to five star status. One of those was Petty.

While looking around on Rivals a few minutes ago I noticed Petty has been bumped. On Rivals, that puts Bama with the fourth best recruiting class according to their rankings. (The team is currently ranked 4th on 247, with Petty receiving 4 stars in their composite.)

All the talk and attention these past few weeks has been on Sexton. Petty is one of those shooting guards we've been talking about and has been "noticed" at the Jordan Brand Classic.

That's awesome, and he's a great scorer in high school. But he needs to drastically change his shooting form or he's going to look like a middle schooler in the SEC.

Shooting from his chest across his face will get blocked or tipped a ton, with a lot of the long and lean guards we have in this conference. About the only real success he'll have with that shooting motion is if he's nearly wide open and out of reach of a defender.

Color me pleasantly surprised if he ends up having similar success shooting like that in college.

SLO, I'm not seeing what you are. I watched Terry's video he posted and his shot looks ok to me. I did notice once or twice he was a bit low on release but most of the time I saw pretty decent form. After seeing what Lavar Ball did with that funky delivery of his, I'm not the least bit concerned with Petty at the next level.
