IMHO I think there is some unfair criticism towards JPW, sure he has his moments, but the guy has had 3 Offensive coordinators and still doe a solid job. Give him blocking as CtrlAltieDel is saying along with our new O-Coordinator and I think he has a great year.

Sure, Kirk, this is going to be his year. The main reason is because the OL has come together. They have finally said "nobody is going to get to our QB", I think the quote was.

It was frustrating being one of very few posters on several different boards that always had to remind people that if they were hit constantly and flushed constantly and drilled into the ground on 2 out of 3 plays they too would fumble or throw interceptions.

The sanctimonious ones would say:

"Well, he makes bad decisions and rushes his throws and it leads to interceptions".

Others would say:

"He needs to learn how to hold onto the ball and wrap it up and not fumble."

Everyone is an armchair QB and many of them don't seem to realize that if you are mauled 95% of the time, 5% of the time you may very well make bad decisions that other QB's that have protection would not make.

I was aggitated with him last year, I admit that I said he was a headcase and unreliable.

He looked good Saturday, in control, moved in the pocket well. I noticed several times that when he felt the corner coming he simply stepped up into the pocket and kept his eyes downfield. So, after game 1, I am pleased to announce that I appear to have been wrong

JPW, I am proud to have you as my quarterback!

Remember those old Isatoner (sp?) glove commercials from the 80's? He may need to do one for Christmas. lol

Can't argue with that man. ;tr

I will be the first to admit that I've not been pulling for JPW to keep his job the past couple years. Too inconsistant to play as a starter in the SEC, is what I always thought. However, after seeing how he can use his great tools in the right offense with good protection and a running game to boot, maybe the best QB in the West is wearing #14 in Crimson this season!

What I found surprising is that there were so many 'Bama fans that didn't understand one of the most fundamental concepts of American football:

Offensive line performance is directly related to quarterback performance.

I can't tell you how many times over this off season I have seen completely clueless posters say things like:

Wilson should be able to take 30 hits a game and be rushed, flushed, and hurried on "every single play" and he should never fumble or never throw an interception.

It was amazing. The people saying this seemed absolutely oblivious to the fact that an offensive line was even part of a modern college football team.

They were under the impression that it was a quarterback's duty and his alone to beat 11 other players.

Post of the week! People love to jump on the QB band wagon when we're rolling, but the first finger pointed when we lose is the poor linemen!
