| FTBL John Parker Wilson

He played an outstanding game! Like he said, everyone stepped up and made plays and made it seem easy for him. Congrats to JPW for having a team now worthy of letting him shine!

I'm so proud of him. He went out there and hushed all the critics and the doubters (the later would be me). I'm just so happy for him! :)

I will be the first to admit that I've not been pulling for JPW to keep his job the past couple years. Too inconsistant to play as a starter in the SEC, is what I always thought. However, after seeing how he can use his great tools in the right offense with good protection and a running game to boot, maybe the best QB in the West is wearing #14 in Crimson this season!

He played well tonight. I'm still a little concerned about him over-throwing the deep ball....

I was very frustrated with him last year, but last night was so much better. He just looked relaxed in the pocket, not tense, no nervous feet/hands, just more mature. I hope that sticks. I was really impressed. There were a couple of times he was patient and made a good decision where last year he would have just pitched it and ended up with an INT. I'm really pleased with how he looked, his demeanor, everything.

The deep ball to Julio wasn't badly thrown, but it was thrown to the wrong side...slightly inside and it was a completion.

Missing Maze...inches.

One hell of a catch by Maze that was called back due to that penalty.

That was an awesome catch.

The one over throw that sticks out was in the red zone over McCoys head, but it was the best place to miss. The team played a great game and you can tell the team has a lot of respect for JPW. As do I. He has show he can lead.

I have to agree, but I know some of the passes were being "protected" by being thrown high, etc... I just hope there are little accuracy issues as the season gets going.

That being said, the next couple of games are just what we need to finish breaking in the Freshman.

I like the way he use his head. he didn't rush throwing the ball last night. Couple of time it look like he almost waiting to long. I too think he is the MVP of the game. Also I didn't hear who ESPN/ABC pick as the players of the game.

Hats off to JPW. Great pass protection throughout the game sure allowed him to make good decisions. A little over pumped as evident on some of his throws but thats to be expected IMO on the first game of the season. Keep it up JP!

just remember what he did against tennessee last year and then look at how he did against lesser teams. hope there is not a repeat.

Yes, I too am hoping that the offensive line doesn't repeat last year.

What I found surprising is that there were so many 'Bama fans that didn't understand one of the most fundamental concepts of American football:

Offensive line performance is directly related to quarterback performance.

I can't tell you how many times over this off season I have seen completely clueless posters say things like:

Wilson should be able to take 30 hits a game and be rushed, flushed, and hurried on "every single play" and he should never fumble or never throw an interception.

It was amazing. The people saying this seemed absolutely oblivious to the fact that an offensive line was even part of a modern college football team.

They were under the impression that it was a quarterback's duty and his alone to beat 11 other players.

IMHO I think there is some unfair criticism towards JPW, sure he has his moments, but the guy has had 3 Offensive coordinators and still doe a solid job. Give him blocking as CtrlAltieDel is saying along with our new O-Coordinator and I think he has a great year.

Lot's of times when 4-6 defensive players aren't in your backfield before you take a half a step backwards it will help with the looking calm and taking your time thing.
