May need that wasted air closer to the end.I'm not obsessed with the guy. You read what you want to, I guess.
People like you are exactly why I don't talk politics on line.
The apostle St Luke was known as the Evangelist. Newsweek may have coined the term as a pejorative.I think it was Newsweek that coined the term "evangelical" when they claimed 1976 as the year of the evangelical. Carter's affability for human rights, peace, and protect the poor brought a lot of that group over to the democratic side. He introduced the idea of being a "Progressive Evangelical." It didn't sit well with a lot of that group who were supporting him in his original run for POTUS.
So were Matthew, Mark, and John. Evangelist is defined as a writer of one the gospels. The apostle St Luke was known as the Evangelist. Newsweek may have coined the term as a pejorative.
You were three then. What was the difference?Carter seems like a good man, no clue how he was as president, I was 3 when he left office.
Couldn’t begin to explain the evangelical folks leaving or his faith or anything because I don’t share said faith, but there’s a HUGE difference between the evangelical from then to now
Meaning there’s a huge difference between evangelicals from my childhood and now, should’ve said thatYou were three then. What was the difference?
How so?Meaning there’s a huge difference between evangelicals from my childhood and now, should’ve said that
He was one of my Commander in Chief.Former President Jimmy Carter dies at 100
Former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, died on Sunday at age 100.www.wtvm.com
We Christians should do our best to be the hands and feet of Christ. Jimmy Carter did. After his disastrous time in office, he didn't bury his head and hide away. He let us all have a good laugh at him in The Jeffersons help so many who needed it, even as late as last year. His legacy with Habitat for Humanity is something else.
Rest in peace, Mr. President.
This has been well documented by lots of journalists and historians. There was a concerted strategy by a faction who called themselves Neoconservatives. Their objective was to forge a new GOP constituency out of the failures of the Democratic Party, now seen as the vandguard of the stale federal bureaucracy, as well as tap into the wave of evangelical Christianity sweeping the Western world, thanks largely to TV evangelists and networks. Enter Ralph Reed’s Christian Coalition, Falwell’s Moral Majority, Pat Robertson’s CBN network, Oral Roberts and the TBN network. Concurrently the radical Likud Party was formed in Israel in 1973 and began exploiting the fraudulent Scofield theology espoused by all these outlets to manipulate the masses of evangelicals in powerful western nations into supporting the Likud vision of an expansionist Greater Israel project. So the Reagan Revolution was largely the work of these Neoconservative academics and strategists to fuse US Middle East policy with the goals of Likud extremists in Israel, which would be later outlined in their infamous policy paper A Clean Break. This is no doubt one reason why Carter worked hard in retirement to advocate on behalf of Palestinians for peace and speak out against Israeli apartheid and particularly against Bibi’s recklessness and extremism as Prime Minister.why did the Evangelicals leave him and move on?
The state of affairs are as such: When you lead a response with "documented by journalists and historians" all the content that follows is immediately questionable. This has been well documented by lots of journalists and historians. Wait a minute.I really think he gets too much blame for the energy crisis, inflation, and Iran hostage crisis …
He continued Nixon's price controls, and did start the defense increases that accelerated under Reagan. His initial steps to deregulate some industries bore fruit later on.I really think he gets too much blame for the energy crisis, inflation, and Iran hostage crisis …
not enough credit for bankrupting the USSR …
and not enough blame for funding bin Laden’s group of Mujahideen and redirecting their ire towards Americans.
His was a fascinating presidency, the gateway between the old world order and the new.
I completely agree. Damn Jimmy Carter for having the audacity to die.I just had to lower the flag to “Half mast” for one of the absolute worst presidents in the history of our nation… The flags are ordered to remain for thirty days.. What bullshit… that was done deliberately for Trump’s inauguration day!..
It shouldn’t be… I sure don’t think it was that long for George H. W. Bush ( which I’m not really a fan of)… but I guess Democrats everything goes by the book…WELL AT LEAST HE IS GONE!.., Kind of like the special ops soldiers that burned to death on his watchI completely agree. Damn Jimmy Carter for having the audacity to die.
You know, he's probably been dead for a few months, and they held the news to get back at Trump. Or, he's probably still alive and he's just pulling a stunt. You can't trust those 100 year olds.
And, finally, damn that United State Code, Title 4, Section 7(m):
(m)The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. On Memorial Day the flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. By order of the President, the flag shall be flown at half-staff upon the death of principal figures of the United States Government and the Governor of a State, territory, or possession, as a mark of respect to their memory. In the event of the death of other officials or foreign dignitaries, the flag is to be displayed at half-staff according to Presidential instructions or orders, or in accordance with recognized customs or practices not inconsistent with law. In the event of the death of a present or former official of the government of any State, territory, or possession of the United States, the death of a member of the Armed Forces from any State, territory, or possession who dies while serving on active duty, or the death of a first responder working in any State, territory, or possession who dies while serving in the line of duty, the Governor of that State, territory, or possession may proclaim that the National flag shall be flown at half-staff, and the same authority is provided to the Mayor of the District of Columbia with respect to present or former officials of the District of Columbia, members of the Armed Forces from the District of Columbia, and first responders working in the District of Columbia. When the Governor of a State, territory, or possession, or the Mayor of the District of Columbia, issues a proclamation under the preceding sentence that the National flag be flown at half-staff in that State, territory, or possession or in the District of Columbia because of the death of a member of the Armed Forces, the National flag flown at any Federal installation or facility in the area covered by that proclamation shall be flown at half-staff consistent with that proclamation. The flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of the President or a former President; 10 days from the day of death of the Vice President, the Chief Justice or a retired Chief Justice of the United States, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives; from the day of death until interment of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a Secretary of an executive or military department, a former Vice President, or the Governor of a State, territory, or possession; and on the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress. The flag shall be flown at half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day, unless that day is also Armed Forces Day.
