🏈 Jimbo Fisher's FSU QB stats tell a different story

Signing a new head coach & staff just before early signing period spelled doom for 2018 class.

This year they've gone all in on grad transfers, x3.

Francois getting dismissed was unexpected. Blackman putting himself in the transfer portal probably took everyone by surprise. So Fisher had some talent at the position. I don't know how any coach can manage the QB situation anymore. It'd hard to believe that Lia, Tyson, and Jones will all still be here and willing to compete in 3 or 4 years.

All any head coach can do is keep recruiting the position.

8 of 11 didn’t finish at FSU; 6 never started a game.

How do you not sign a QB?

QB recruiting has been a crap shoot for over a decade now, wouldn't you agree? If we look around P5 programs at the top QB recruits recruited we'll find about one in three sign, develop, get a starting job, and stay at the top of the QB's statistical list while playing. I'm not saying the QB's that say will end up being a good collegiate quarterback. We've seen several that stuck around for awhile, earned a little playing time and even start, but not play well.

Let me see

Nick Fanuzzi,Star Jackson,Phil Sims,Phil Ely,Cooper Bateman,Luke Del Rio,Parker McCleod,Alex Morris,David Cornwell,Blake Barnett

You're correct Terry......QB evaluations aren't easy

QB evaluations are a crap shoot at best. Kid can come to camp, look like a million bucks, cannon for an arm, throw routes on air like Joe Montana, and even be solid in 7v7. Get him in the meeting room and he can’t draw up coverages and can’t read a defense to save his neck. Often times, what is between the ears matters more than the physical attributes.

Average a top 5 recruiting class year after year.

Jimbo won't have Sherman OL recruits at TAMU. If Texas gets rolling...

Sounds like you don't believe in Fisher? I don't know what some people were looking at last season but the Aggies look like they found their way just fine. They even managed to beat LSU. I don't think Fisher will play second fiddle to the kissing bandit over in Austin. I thought he had Mond looking like an SEC QB and I think we will find in the SEC a lot more where that came from this season.

Jimbo is a good football coach. If you're going to hold how he handled Winston against him then fine. I expect A&M to compete for the West in 2020 and going forward with LSU and Bama and the Barn dropping to #4 .
@TUSKtimes
I think sample size is small...but he did average close to or at 10wins/year....over 6-7 year period...
In ACC....And a NC....with a QB of great talent but poor character...handled it poorly..I thought....got into it with fans...?...
Only last year poor...
At AnM....big bucks...to produce....better! Will be short lived stay if not...
..i think he is good @JoseyWalesTheOutlaw ...but better than good?
But things get tough now...SECw....AU, LSU, MSU, ...ole ms and ark are down...
And Bama of course...
I think he is overrated....as was Chizik was at AU ( aNC but tainted)....
Big year for jimbo...tough schedule...

I expect A&M to struggle to get 9 wins including their bowl game in 2019 unless they have some freshmen ready to setup and play early for them....much like Bama did in 2008. Hell I hope Bama has some of our freshmen to step forward and challenge starters.

Julio,Mark, and Donta were special from day one out of the 2008 class.

And AnM.....has @Clemson, AU, and Bama in first half of season.......be 3 games to determine how good a season it will be..

Yep....those 3 you mentioned built the "Alabama Factor " up .... stills feels like 2018 was a down year...not by losing to Clemson but by letting clemson destroy us..

Bama had a great run in 2018 until it didn't. Not often you see so many things go South for you in one game as did that night. I expect Nick to take the team back to a more physical team on both sides of the ball. When you score as much as Bama did in 2018 perhaps the offensive team got a little soft and expected #13 and his crew to do what they had done all year. The inability of the defense to make a dayum stop for 4 Qtrs is the main thing I take from a game. The Fighting Dabo's never missed on a 3rd down play and it wasn't even close on those downs. They defensive plan was even worse than the plan for OSU in 2014.

At AnM....big bucks...to produce....better!
All too often I see "A&M will contend because they have the financial resources..." I've never seen an answer as to why A&M hasn't been contending. They've always had the resources.

Fisher didn't leave FSU better off when he left. Fisher didn't improve FSU during his time there.

I have a hard time grasping the reasoning on why the expectation for a different A&M.
