🏈 Jamie Newman opting out UGA

On the surface, seems like a really odd move for a guy that had a chance to improve his stock a bit. Now, if it was becoming clear somehow that he wasn't going to start? Then smart move, IMO.

I've seen another thought on this - Pro Football Focus had Newman as their #3 QB behind Trevor and Fields. No way he was gonna pass those 2 on draft boards. So in some ways, his stock was never going to go higher.

I also don't know if the UGA rationale that he got "beat out" is true. JT Daniels isn't cleared for contact. UGA plays in 3 weeks. And despite Daniels being a former elite recruit, his performance at USC was very average.

This is a big loss for UGA IMO.

PFF has him as the #5 QB from what I see. From what I understand though, there was/is a wide range of opinions on Newman from scouts. And even the ones who are somewhat high on him, aren't close to 1st round high. Now, a lot can and will change between now and April, but there was an opportunity for improvement that he will now miss out on. Other ways to showcase it? Sure, but nothing that matches the position he would have been in at UGA.

I agree on it being a big loss. Just find the timing and reasoning very odd.

Perhaps the truth will be known in the coming days. Several of the Dawg posters on the rant say he was about to lose his job to JT Dainels...LOL

"we didn't need him anyway" Aight

I was watching CBSSNHD's college football (DirecTV Ch. 221) with Zucker, Taylor, Cross, and (that loud mouth who played at Texas...Brian somebody) last night. One of those guys has JT Daniels in his top three Heisman candidates. Those Jawja guys probably know something.

They know they don't have a solid QB; they haven't even with Newman playing.

JT isn't taking contact as it is...still banged up from his injury.

Do I dare try SEC Now this morning...?
