Do you play golf? The morning group finished their round 4 strokes better than the afternoon group. The 2 players who make up the last group today were in that morning group and frankly, Friday night was just happy they made the cut. The course got away from the USGA again. Davis said they were taken back by the amount of wind. How was that? It was predicted, just like today. It's been by the same sea for over a hundred years, and you had to have an idea the wind might blow? No, what happened, again, was, they let the greens dry out to the point it got like glass, again and it got away from them. They put out some ridiculous flags near the edge of the greens with no way to hold the ball on top or get close. How do you lose a major in 2004 at Shinnecock and let that happen again?

People woke up this morning wondering if Mickelson should have been disqualified for his personal gesture to their abject stupidity. The only disqualification worthy of that would be Mike Davis and his merry band of nitwits who think this is good golf at a major.

The last 12 hours at Shinnecock has looked like a firemen training session. Why all the water? And sure enough, a golf tournament has broken out. Deal with that.

There's where you, and some of these pro's, are missing the point. Some courses aren't meant to be attacked just like some holes aren't meant to be attacked. Do you see players attacking the pin going over Rae's Creek? No, because they know to get in on the putting surface and then work to the hole. 17 at Sawgrass. Are they attacking? Same principles, three different courses.

This is the US Open. Only having a few under par...is par for the tournament.

They are whining. The course beat just about everyone of them because of the way they were trying to play the course.

I'm a bit shocked you're trying to make an issue of the wind catching them--that's par, for mother nature. It has nothing to do with the way the tournament was conducted. It really rings strangely seeing "do you play" and then immediately criticize the USGA for not being able to predict the volume of wind.

What really gets on my nerves is how badly last years course was set up and no one complained about that layout. Or, the US Open held at Congressional back when Rory won. (Pinehurst wasn't USGA ready either, IMO.) Double digit under par scores don't belong in this tournament.

I'm not making an issue about the wind, Mike Davis the CEO of the USGA is making an issue of the wind. He said he was caught off guard by the wind and he wanted a Mulligan for yesterday's play. I said, how can you be caught off guard by the wind when Shinnecock has been sitting by the same sea for over a 100 years? When the amount of wind we have today has been predicted and was predicted yesterday as well. Excuses, excuses, excuses. They lost Shinnecock yesterday, in the same manner, they lost it in 2004. That's why they have been hosing the place down for the last 12 hours. That's the reason they changed the flags on the greens. They went too far and lost the tourney yesterday afternoon. Seeing is believing.

But guess what? It isn't this every week. Not even close. Golf like this happens once a year. The U.S. Open is supposed to be extremely hard. Was it too hard for Saturday's afternoon groups? Maybe. But it's supposed to be mentally taxing and frustrating. It's supposed to have its own identity.

The question is whether enough water will be applied to wash the egg off the USGA’s face.

You don't think certain tee times at Augusta are beneficial to some over others? You're killing me with your reasoning here. Pebble Beach is the same way. Yeah, you can keep tournaments away from the coast, but that is just giving into the players simply because thibgs aren't going their way. The USGA is being politically correct in their apologues so they don't continue to shoulder blame for the conditions. Just play the damn course and accept what your game shoots.

The ball is rolling truer today and the scores are getting lower as we speak. So even though the best players are getting rewarded for making great shots for one of the few times this week you're still allowed to enjoy the Open.

If we played Louisville on an asphalt surface this fall we still should be the better team. But, to be honest, it wouldn't be as much fun.

Happens when they aren't shooting five under. If the USGA truly meant they were sorry instead of being a PR move, they would have said something after Thursday or Friday. I just find it funny some guys played well, but they are being soiled on because your boys Speith, Tiger, Day, and Rory couldn't hold it together.
