Jimbo Fisher, who received a record $76 million buyout after he was fired as Texas A&M football coach in 2023, says he wants to return to the sideline.

Fisher, who recently joined the ACC Network as an analyst, told the "Trials to Triumph" podcast earlier this week that he is looking for "the right situation" to get back into coaching at the college level.

"I'm 59, in great shape and healthy. I've had success everywhere we've ever been," Fisher said. "The end at Texas A&M, it's unfortunate, but we also had the highest-ranked team they ever had there in 2020. Our quarterbacks got hurt. We played with first-team, third-team. ... It was hard to get playcalling and guys around. ... Didn't pan out like we needed to, but I still love it."

Fisher, who was hired by Texas A&M ahead of the 2018 season, later received a 10-year, $95 million deal in 2021. He was fired by the Aggies in November 2023 after going 45-25. Prior to that, he went 83-23 at Florida State, winning the 2013 national title and three consecutive ACC championships from 2012-14.

"Being able to [coach], I would," Fisher told the podcast. "I've won 72% of my games, won 80% of my playoff games. I've been fortunate to win a national championship as a head coach and assistant. I miss the relationships with players. I would be very interested in still doing it. I still think I've got a lot to give. I'd like to get back out there."

Fisher will appear weekly on the "ACC Huddle" on Saturdays on the ACC Network.

At this point, I’m not sure there’s an SEC school that would even kick his tires, much less hire him.

Don't understand that...now maybe some wont give him the contract that AnM gave him....but....looking around ...has a decent resume...AnM just didnt work out...
And SEC may have a bunch of jobs open...( not saying they all would be interested in JF)
MSU...Arkansas....AU...LSU...Florida..Oklahoma...kentucky...
If 3-4 sec teams really dominate...means equal number may flop....or even have HCs just taking other jobs...ie vandys...ole ms....

Just way too many other options out there to choose from than picking up a retread dinosaur like him. There may be a school out there that fits him well, but any SEC school that hires him is flushing both money and seasons down the preverbal toilet.

Look what he did at his last two stops. I think a Mississippi state or Vandy may give him a look if they were in need but I don't think a mid to upper tier SEC school would. He needs a reset at a CUSA, MAC, Sunbelt, etc before getting those offers imo.

TAMU.
FSU.
Look at the culture he created at both schools. Jimbo always had something going on behind the scenes at both school and honestly, I think he's better off getting out of SEC and ACC and go somewhere where there isn't pressure to win. Ride that out to retirement.

Jimbo doesn’t need the money but it’s a pride thing. He was paid very well at FSU and A&M (too well). That establishes his ā€œvalue.ā€ Why would he decrease his value by going to a MAC school or a lower tier BIG10 or ACC school? Those schools that may look at him need to be aware that he’s likely to leave after only a few years. Why bring someone in to build a program if they’re going to leave when the first big program comes calling?

But looking around. Hard to figure where he would fit best. Might be a desperate shot.
Maybe a program that fits around personality ( lsu or AU come to mine).
I dont see a vandy. A msu...?????
Be interesting to follow

I don't see any SEC school taking him but you never know what a bottom feeder may do just for a name they can't normally afford. I think he fits best right where he is unless his fire for football has changed greatly.
