Introduce yourself if you were in the Armed Forces...

I just noticed this thread...

US Army 91-99 - 10th Mountain Division, 2-22nd Infantry. I was a Supply Specialist in an Infantry unit, so I was a grunt first, desk jockey second. Our CSM said it should be that way, and so he made it happen.

Deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia Oct 93-Mar 94, took part in the invasion of Haiti from the USS Esienhower in Sept 1994. Served my last 2 years in at the White House Military Office.

Proud to have served. Now I'm using that GI Bill to complete my degree at THE University of Alabama through the EXD program (like Namath).

U.S. Army
1985-87
Combat Signalman (Radio Operator)
Volunteered for everywhere but never got out of the SEC. :D
Basic- Ft. Jackson SC
AIT- Ft. Gordon GA
Stationed- 5th Inf. DIV
Ft. Polk LA (which SHOULD have counted as "foreign" )

Served more than once

7 yrs 1 mo 14 days Air Force, on the B-52, Maintenance Scheduling, then married a military man...so I'm serving a second time...Thanks to all who serve and have served.

But mostly thank you to my husband 18 years going strong. I love you BamaAfforce.

I went to Georgia Military College, and broke my should to pieces (fighting on campus) a few months before comissioning. Not to be Non-huah, but I was thanking God for that after 2 years in a training environment. I'm much more valueable as a creative type -- trust me. Wouldn't trade the experinece for anything though. At least I got my degree. Scary thinking of some of the people that became Army officers though.

Mississippi huh? Actually my wife is trying to get a special duty there in Columbus so we may be coming back home as well. I grew up right across the state line there above Tuscaloosa.

So where they got you stationed right now? Arizona? Nellis?

Davis-Monthan. It's not bad.....I've just been here way too damn long. Plus I'd be headed to Keesler for instructor duty, which is something I've wanted for a couple of years now.

Been to Davis-Montham a few times. My wife is from Sacramento so we'd routinely drive through there from New mexico when we went to see her family. I had a couple of buddies from Holloman stationed there in the medical group but they're likely gone now. It's been several years.

Wow. First time I've ever been in here.. Well, I started off in the National Guard as a chemical specialist. Got bored with that so I went for the more hooah approach and joined the 20th Special Forces. Worked along side a hell of a group of Green Berets and Rangers there. I got out 3 years ago to persue teaching and coaching. That G.I. Bill comes in handy. ;). I never did any wartime. Though I did get activated for Katrina in New Orleans. I guess that's as close to war as you can get in your own country. And I ain't $#!tt!n you.
