I suppose that their selling of products with the SEC logo on it means that they have to pay the SEC. That said, I wonder if they had to get permission to sell the items. That must have been an ackward conversation.

They have a license through the CLC which allows them to sell merchandise with the SEC logo. The SEC does get paid, but they don't receive payment directly. I doubt they received permission directly just as I doubt they would have to ask for specific permissions.
The CLC is a ***** to deal with. Heck, we can't sell merchandise online specifically for RTB.com here because the domain name is too closely related to the University. It's weird in a manner of speaking. There were no charges for buying the domain name, but anything sold memorabilia wise was a problem. Well, it was a problem with the company I was talking with a few years ago.
I wonder if CLC or the SEC offices found out about it.
I glanced at the official athletic pages of A&M and Mizzou this morning to see what had changed. A&M has "This is SEC Country" in a nice little design...SECPR guy has a link over in the twitter hub.
