<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>There is now an Aaron Murray Rule: QB is by definition a &quot;defenseless&quot; player if play involves change of possession.</p>&mdash; Cecil Hurt (@CecilHurt) <a href="https://twitter.com/CecilHurt/statuses/359332949235216386">July 22, 2013</a></blockquote>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>&quot;Defenseless&quot; means you can't target them, but blocking is still legal (with written permission.)</p>&mdash; Cecil Hurt (@CecilHurt) <a href="https://twitter.com/CecilHurt/statuses/359333448797790209">July 22, 2013</a></blockquote>

The spike rule is in place for the simple reason of some guys being a little slow on the draw when it comes to flipping the switch to start and stop the clock. How is it possible for the official to blow the ball in play, winding his arm to start the clock, the center snap the ball, and the QB spike the ball all within a second? It isn't!

The Aaron Murray rule is pretty stupid too. After all, Murray did put himself into the play after the change of possession. If he wasn't having a pity party and was actually paying attention, he wouldn't have been almost knocked through the turf.

Perhaps semantics?

Schad reports...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>A team can no longer snap and spike the ball with 2 seconds or fewer left on game clock. Must snap and play before expiration or game over.</p>&mdash; Joe Schad (@schadjoe) <a href="https://twitter.com/schadjoe/statuses/359676153398697985">July 23, 2013</a></blockquote>

I like this one...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>A coach can now use a timeout to allow a player who lost his helmet on previous play to re-enter the game</p>&mdash; Joe Schad (@schadjoe) <a href="https://twitter.com/schadjoe/statuses/359675362432659456">July 23, 2013</a></blockquote>
