🏈 In a resume building contest, which win by any team is the "best win of the year," to date? tl:dr

We're on the brink of this being a phrase we hear every day on one of the college football shows. It's something we've already been hearing this season starting in week one and it's been growing since then.

So, let me pose the question to you guys. In your minds eye, what's the best win you've seen to date?

Here's why I'm posing the question. This part of the season, this narrative if you will, had a rewrite last night. If we step back a few weeks we're hearing about the adversity Ohio State faced when they played TCU. Not only were we being told it's a strong game from an OOC standpoint, and SOS standpoint, but we were reminded of the adversity the Buckeyes were facing going against a Patterson led TCU program with Meyer on the sideline.

Today we're still hearing about how Day did in his interim role and how that performance will garner him interviews for head coaching positions. The win against TCU being the highlighted portion of his resume.

But wait.

Ohio State struggles a bit then pulls away from TCU with three quick strikes. It's a great win for the program.

Texas Tech had a kid start his first game last night--two QB's ahead of him out to injury with one of them replacing Duffey for a series (couldn't play on ankle.) And, this Texas Tech team beat TCU last night. (They also beat a ranked Okie State a few weeks ago)

Now, things change as the season progresses...but we are only six weeks removed from seeing this Texas Tech team beaten by Ole Miss--a team fighting for last place in the West.

Penn State is a good win for Ohio State.
Texas A&M is a good win for Clemson, right? d
WVU brings us back to TTU. Are we giving them credit for beating TCU?
"Michigan has pushed their way into the playoff conversation" makes Notre Dame have two notables.

There's a handful more I could name. But this question is to you--which one is the best win so far?

As a side note/question to ponder...

At what point will the win over A&M become a good win? Would a win @UofSC this weekend be enough? What about a win this weekend along with a win the next, @ MSU? (@ Auburn following weekend.)

TTU-TCU was more of a loss by TCU than a win by TTU. TCU was pitiful. Couldn't move the ball on TTU :eyeroll:, and when they did they turned it over. Three TOs and should have been six.

NDs win s Mich and then Stanford.
With no conference CG. And weak otherwise schedule. ND only has to get thru a couple other mediocre type games. Ie usc
Considering they barely got bye Ball State. Vanderbilt. Only a ND nose dive can keep em out.

Kentucky over Florida may be the biggest one for the year!
My mind immediately went to resume building for teams trying to get to CFP, so I left this game off my list. Now had Kentucky beaten TAMU like they should have, they'd be in contention for the SEC East.
That's what I was thinking, resumes for the playoff. It's a season with fewer undefeated teams but more than have a good chance of going undefeated. It's arguable there's four after the championship weekend. How are they seeded? No one is expecting West Virginia to make a run--crazier things have happened. I don't believe in Colorado for a second.

Texas had a good win over Oklahoma

They're building a resume to play the loser of the SECCG--a spot that'll they'll be playing WVU for in my opinion.

Texas beating Oklahoma was probably the biggest win of the year. LSU beating Miami was fun to watch. Kentucky finally beating Florida was good too. Hate it, but gotta give it to the Longhorns thus far.

Meh, Oklahoma sucks.

Maryland winning at Texas was more impressive :) Hell, they beat them last year....shouldn't have happened again this year. This was an ugly loss for the stripper recruiter.

KY winning the east is delusional they have no QB.
Does A&M deserve a "good win" on their resume for that win?

Let's consider Kentucky for a minute. They're looking at a 6-2 conference record--10 win season is a real possibility. If UK comes out of the regular season as a 10 win SEC team that also mean Kentucky is a player in the NY6 bowls. (That's COY resume.)

After doing some research into your questions, I have to say, right now the Ohio State (6-0) win against Penn State is a big/good win.
The only game that COULD appear close on paper is the last game of the year with Michigan. The rest of the year COULD be smooth sailing unless they just have a crappy game. OSU does not have to play Wisconsin this year.

The catholic school in Indiana (6-0) is doing well so far with a quality win against Michigan. Vandy gave them all they wanted and probably should have won the game but the %#^& luck of the irish smiled on that school again. They also have a pretty easy road the rest of the way but Syracuse (4-2) and USCw (3-2) COULD be a problem.

Texas Tech sits at 4-2 with losses to Ole Miss 47-27 and WVU 42-34. There big win was against an over-hyped team IMO, Oklahoma St. 41-17.

Michigan is 5-1 after losing to that catholic school the first game of the year in a close 24-17 game. Looking at their schedule though, who have they really played? Western Michigan, Southern Methodist, Nebraska, Northwestern and Maryland. COUGH!!!!!! They still have Wisconsin, Penn State and OSU before the year is up.

West Virginia is 5-0 right now but again, who have they beaten? UT, Youngstown St., Kansas St. Texas Tech and Kansas. They still have to play Texas, Ok. St. and Oklahoma.

Penn St. is sitting at 4-1 with their only loss to Ohio St. Good loss if that makes sense. They are also in the same boat with "tough wins" wins over a good App St. team, now get ready to cough, Pittsburgh, Kent St. and Illinois. They still have Michigan and Wisconsin to play.

A&M is sitting at 4-2 which hurts us IMO. The two losses have been against quality opponents in Clemson 28-26 and Bama 45-23. They have beaten NW St. 59-7, UL Monroe 48-10, Arkansas 241-7 and UK 20-14. They still have USCe and LSU on the schedule.

And now for us. Bama is 6-0 but its hard to reason if we are that good or if everyone we have played is just down. I am impressed with our wins but I really thought Ole Miss and A&M would be better games than they turned out. We still have LSU and Auburn let that MAY be a challenge but look at our out of conference games....really big cough.

With all that being said, I am not sure any one of us can say that X team has some really quality wins...YET. We still have a lot of football to be played this year. The top teams, Bama, OSU, Clemson, Georgia, nd still are head and shoulders above the rest of college football AND UNTIL someone beats us, we are sitting at the top. RTR!
