🏈 I'm looking for a good breakdown of Bama's 3-4

The thing about the defense is that according to the defensive call, that will determine the specific job for that LB on that call. The JAck LB reminds me alot of the old drop DE in the 5-2 defense. He either dropped into coverage or rushed depending on whether he has a certain # of receivers to his side or not. Mike and Will are your inside backers that are run stoppers and hook/curl zones in pass if not assigned to blitz. The Sam is the strong outside backer that has some of the same responsibilities as the Jack. The star or money position is that 5th or 6th DB that comes into play in obvious passing situations. He will have various responsibilities and will take on a slot receiver. I hope this helps you out. I coached linebackers in high school for 10 years. This is the best I can do without knowing terminology or having the playbook in front of me.

No problem Winner. Phil, I'll tell you that the 1989 Offensive playbook at BAMA was 350+ pages thick. Homer Smith was the OC then and you needed someone to carry it to the meetings for you. I can only imagine the number of multiples for CNS's Defensive playbook. Maybe that gives you an idea.

Spot on...and, knowing their terminology really doesn't matter as long as you understand their responsibilities. IMO, of course...
