What does the administrator know now that he did not know say at the end of the spring semester. This definitely feels like there is more to it.

They were probably wanted him gone earlier but didnt want to be on the hook for his salary.

Obviously, they got enough evidence for sufficient cause and needed him gone before the season starts. Hard to fire him for this if you retained him as coach during another season where he could put more kids "at risk."

Now they can ride out the season with interim coach and hire a new guy over Christmas vs. Waiting two years.
