| FTBL If we had hired Croom...........

I am not saying that we SHOULD have hired Croom, nor would I rather have him than Saban. But can we please give credit where credit is due? He has taken Mississippi State and beaten AU @ Jordan Hare and US in Starkville. What does that say?

I totally agree.

Although, I don't think anyone could make a coherent argument out of "We did the right thing by hiring Shula."

It's a lot easier to have success in Tuscaloosa than Starkville, yet, Sly has gone out and built a very respectable program. I think he's a great coach.

No one in particular. But some of theses posts are insane. Heat of the moment type that usually are driven by frustration. It's understandable but some folks carry it too far.

I too understand how frustration and ease of internet access can lead to forum venting. I do think this thread topic was a bit of a far reach as well. I just wanted to make sure who you were referring to.

I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea if people question some of the things this team does, good or bad. I'm a diehard Bama fan and bleed crimson even is we go winless a season.

Let's put this loss behind us and prepare to finish the season out with a BANG via huge upset! Down with LA. Monroe and the Barn!! If there is one VERY important game to make a statement with, it's coming up in 2 weeks.

Let's go tide and regroup (both fans and the team)!

Uhhhh, I'll take Saban on a bad day over Croom on his best day.

This will all pass, Saban is the RIGHT guy for the job.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very upset over the loss. I just have to think back to the start of the seaon and remember, we only wanted a certain amount of wins to be happy. It's so tough, we were so close with the talent we have this season. I feel like most of college football took notice, we will be something!

I just can't stop thinking about what the future's gonna be like with Saban.

Good post and I agree. We'll be fine. Maybe some of these wagoners will jump ship soon.

I hope a lot of them have tickets at Bryant-Denny. I'd like to be able to get more next year.

I think I'm in love! :drk
Mrs.Delta, some of these guys could learn a thing or two from you about being a fan.

:D :D :D

Just thinking about the future, that's all.

We would have Ellis Johnson on the sidelines. We'd also have Woody McCorvey. We would not have had the monies in place and would be looking for more donations to pay for the improvements we have made.

We would have a fan base that would have endured seasons that would have had him fired. We would be the laughing stock of the NCAA. We would have the BCA all over us for firing an African American coach.

We would have had very, very poor seasons the last few years. Easily, the same record that MSU had the last 3 seasons.

Why do I say this? Because that the is the staff Croom said he wanted when he was interviewed. Why do I say the losses? Because when asked what his plan was for the football team he said he had none. Read that again. None.

I think if we hired Croom we would have won more games than we did with Shula and we would probably still have him.

I'll take Saban over Croom. I do question our hire of the OC though. Too conservatve for my liking. We seen what conservative does for over the last several years.

37 rushes, 35 passes...sounds balanced to me. Not sure more passing would have done us much good with the day JPW was having.

They probably will. It is those same folks that give Alabama fans such a bad name. Oh well. I aint jumpin off this wagon...ever.

I fell off the wagon a time or two, but jump? Hell, no!

You also have to remember the shape that the MSU program was in after Jackie Sherrill left. Also, Croom was a Bama player and learned under the Bear. I wouldn't be surprised if some better programs sit up and take notice. As far as his staff goes, in 1999 they were beating Florida for the second time and winning the SEC.

GL getting on the waiting list. It takes $$$$ to move along the line. I know people that have been waiting for over 2 years and still can't get a answer of a ETA from tidepride. So GL on that  .

If you want to go to a game, you're going to have to either a) get some tickets from a friend or family member or b) buy them online or from many of the people that sell them at the game. Granted you won't be i your very own designated seat, but, you will be AT THE GAME.

I too am on tidepride anxiously awaiting the day I'll get my foot in the door. But I'm certainly not going to wait until then just to have a chance to go to a game.

That being said, I really wish something could be done with tidepride and getting tickets. It seems to be a trend among people to buy seats only to use them as a means to make some $$$. Even if that meas selling to opposing team fans  . Those people are ruining for Bama fans that want those very same seats. I wish there was something they could do but I don't see it happening or know what could be done.

First, I'm not really suprised that Croom is turning his team into the mirror of Bryant/Bama football.

His teams are playing good at the line of scrimmage & playing tough each & every play. His teams will get better, not worse. As much as we hate to admit it, MSU is going to be a solid competitor as long as he is there.

Second, threads like this such a waste so I'm not going to make comment about the topic...

I means rammajamma this and this only MSU is state champs of Alabama peroid. You would think this would speak volumes to some deaf ears...

I honestly did not intend to offend anyone with this thread. However, at the time we hired Shula I thought we should have hired Croom. Now that he has beat us twice, can you imagine the chest bowing he must be doing right now? Also, I have been reminded on several occasions, that Shula was "one of us". I also feel like that Sly is "one of us" in a way. He chose to go to MSU only after being overlooked at Bama. Even though I hate losing, I have to say that Coach Croom is a good coach and just another shining example of a quality person/player/coach, that was taught by Coach Bryant.

You don't know what Croom has done since he was hired at MSU. While I respect what he did at UA when he was a player here, he's just a small step over DuBose.

This pro-Croom mantra of yours needs to meet with realization. He's done his best to hinder our program in any way he can since he's been at MSU.

One can only imagine what's been said on the recruiting trail.

See I didn't know about any of this. Honestly, I haven't paid any attention to him other than his beating us the past two years.

No offense Terry, but isn't that his job? What because he played here he's not say some bad words because he was passed up for Shula.

Do you have any hard prove of these statements just wondering? I've never seen or heard Croom say anything bad about Alabama. I do remember him telling JJ that he'd never play at Alabama I think as a QB.

To rammajamma you shouldn't feel the need to say you have offended anyone. I don't see how your thread has done any such thing. The one thing I have seen I a bunch of bashing because you ask a simple question which is wrong all the way around. Seeing how none of us are paid for any of our football now how...
