🏈 If recuiting drops and Smart goes...

You better put your head between your legs cause there is a storm a comming...

Will Muschamp is a good coach, and he will probably be a good headcoach. However, let us be honest, who here REALLY thinks that Will Muschamp, who has been a DC most of his career, is BETTER THAN URBAN MEYER, who won two NCs in the last decade?

Apples and oranges. Its a big name hire, to replace a bigger name. This wont affect recruiting. Or hiring, though Ill go ahead and start it........

Malzahn to Florida.

I am absolutely incredulous over what some people come up with. It's truly amazing.

My $0.02
- Muschamp is a good, not great, coach. BUT he is a large name and apparently that was important to Florida.
- UF would have done better to aschew glamour and take a serious look at; Chris Peterson, Gary Patterson, or Kyle Whittingham. Any of those and i would have been more worried.
- Why would Smart (or Malzahn for that matter) make a lateral move to serve under a 39 year head coach? No head coach in waiting scenario there... I just don't see either of them making a lateral move unless the money was absolutely ridiculous and they are both paid pretty well already.
- Florida will always be able to recruit well - and so will we. At the end of the day, it's about getting players that FIT YOUR SYSTEM and that FIT THE CHARACTER MOLD. We will be fine.
- Lastly, just because you might be inclined to bail if you perceive difficulty or challenges ahead doesn't mean others share that inclination. Challenge is what breeds excellence. Somehow, I don't think Mr. Saban is afraid of that.

Let's pretend that Saban is about to leave. Let's pretend that Kirby Smart knows about it which is what Strick has alluded to. Why would Smart leave Alabama for Florida in a lateral move when he would likely be first in line to inherent an Alabama program that is in excellent shape?

After all, this would be nothing like the situation Kines was in a few years ago. Smart is a young coach who has spent the last 5 years of his coaching career being groomed by one of the best college coaches in the last 20 years. IF Saban were to leave, I can see Kirby taking over and not missing a beat. I could also see him staying here for a long, long time.

With that said, I don't expect NS to leave in the next 3 years, and I don't expect KS to still be here waiting for the position when it comes open. I just believe that IF Saban were to leave this year and Smart knew it, he wouldn't be jumping to another team with the same title he has now.
