🏈 Identifying Bama

So what should be the major focus of Bama's weak spot in order to inprove enough to win out the season?

The O-line to me has some issues, especially with Fluker out with a groin injury, and people are lying to themselves if they think he'll be okay after a couple of weeks.

The secondary leaves big folds for a good quarterback to make big plays.

GMac is so confident that he sits in the pocket long enough to make a pot of coffee, then takes unneccesary hits when scrambling. How long before he meets an unkind Sam LB like Rolondo McClain?

This creates another question that I haven't figured out AT ALL... Why the hell are our receivers and backs out of the backfield not getting open sooner. We have the size to get off blocks, so what gives? Julio is also another who will not be back in a week or so. His season will be massiv ely different because of this injury.

Guys and Girls, I'm suddenly not getting a good feeling about the rest of the season, although I think maturity could speak volumes in the weeks to come.:headscratch:

The Obama-Line has struggled, and the level of sacks (slang for getting fired - unemployment) has marred the game administration. Health care issues abound. As community organizer, Saban has rallied the troops using colorful language, although he hasn't stooped to Biden-level gutter talk. O-Bama is down in the polls and the pundits are falling off the bandwagon at an alarming rate. Our national currency is not what is once was, and our lack of focus and desire the spread the wealth in the passing game has created a rushing deficit, impairing our ability to score points with our constituents.

Can Alabama rebound? Yes. Yes, we can. Looking for green shoots on Saturday.

Just trying to ease the transition to the football board, Shiloh. Please forgive my comparisons of Saban to Obama. If I were to strive for accuracy, I would equate Obama's performance to Les Miles' game management skills.

RTR,

Tim

I don't think the o-line is that bad. Losing Fluker will obviously hurt you guys but I wouldn't judge their performance against USCjr to measure their ability. USCjr came to play Saturday and had a great plan and a nasty attitude to go with it. The sacks are more GMac's fault than the O-line--he has to know when to get rid of the ball. Your O-line was still opening holes for the backs until Saturday, no reason to think USCjr completely exposed every weakness you have and that they are now ready to be exploited weekly.

The secondary--ah, I think you're right on there. They have been the weak link of the D all season. It appeared they grew up against Arkansas but they didn't look great Saturday. That being said, on a few of Alshon's catches Dre couldn't have covered him any better than he was. Jeffrey is a freak. The catch that sealed the game in the 4th, the spinning one handed thing, Dre was in position to cover it, most receivers in the country don't make that catch or at least aren't able to keep their feet and spin away.

GMac will get hurt if he isn't careful.

As for Julio's injury--I'd like some more insight on that. I saw on ESPN he was either out for a few days or a few weeks after his surgery. That's the worst report I've heard in a while. He may be back after a week or two but with his inconsistency catching the ball I don't think a hand injury and surgery was the best thing for him, obviously.

I don't think the wheels are going to come off your season because of one loss. I'd be glad it is Ole Miss coming to town if I were you. This week will go a long way in telling how this team responds.

Good thing with Fluker is the fact that we have Ole Miss and UT followed by a week off. That is 3 full weeks of "rest" to get back. According to the Roll Tide website, Julio practiced today (Wednesday) and is being evaluated day to day. I think our receiving corp is good enough to let Julio have a rest for a week or so. At the very least I feel we should be able to play our second string pretty early against UT. If all goes well possibly even Ole Miss.

Fluker and McCullough were in a close race at RT. McCullough at RT is not that big of a drop. He's played some this season and is a steady guy. He'll be fine.
The only thing wrong with our O line pass protection is the QB held the ball too long. He got sacked twice in under 4 to 5 sec, which is normal for any SEC game. The others are on the QB. If a O line holds them out for 4 to 5 seconds they've done their job well. Our rushing game is fine. The circumstances of a game can dictate play call, especially when the D can't stop the opponent. The FL game was over at half and we checked out mentally, which should have been a sign we were starting to get complacent.
JJ's hand will heal fine and he can play as soon as he can play with the pain. We will give him as much rest as he needs, but never believe the ESPN drama.
GMac had a bad game on the same day everyone else had a bad game, and everyone expects him to come out determined and more mature this week. He's only started 19 games so he's still growing as a QB/leader.
Some of you guys really need to show some maturity and realism. The sky is not falling and we are in good position. We are a very young team (9 Seniors) and we came out flat and played with no poise or maturity. Young defenses have games like that as they grow and mature and there are times when you flat out get beat. BTW the mental errors on D are with the LB's more than our inexperienced secondary. The DB's have some technique issues, but our LB play has been suspect far too often.
Don't count on blowing OM and TN out and don't expect our staff to let the starters rest. We played like garbage in Columbia and a lot people need to reminded they have to earn it every snap. Also, we have some things we want to see improvement in and the coaches are putting the pressure on our guys to be accountable for steady improvement. There was a reason there was no media viewing at practice Monday and it wasn't us cooking up some new plays. The tone has been set and now we'll see how the team responds.

There is not a problem with our OL. GMac has been holding the ball way too long which I think will be corrected this week. We can't criticize the run blocking since we simply have not run the ball very much the last few games. One problem I do see is our wr inability to get open after running their route. You cannot see it on tv but if you are at the game you can see that the wr are not trying very hard to get open. One player that is actually good at getting open is TE M. Williams.
