💬 I saw Skip Bayless come up last week ... the world of contracts to mediots and horrible ratings

I don't know how many of you guys are familiar with Richard Deitsch. For those who aren't he's been writing for SI for damn near two decades. I've always considered him a pretty level headed sports writer—pretty smart one at that.

He's known for his criticism of a lot of different media figures ... among them Bayless, Clay Travis, and a few others like Jason Whitlock.

I caught this tweet about the show Bayless has on Fox Sports now. If you didn't know, when Fox hired him they gave him a 5+ million per year contract for four years as I recall. What are they getting for their money?

FS1 has really improved in terms of their ratings but 90% of their commentators are horrendous and there is no chance in hell I would ever support a network that employs Clay Travis, but its a huge joke to think they are going to catch ESPN. When they lose UFC it'll be over for them.

Seems like they have been trying to pick off ESPN's talent for a few years now, I have never been a big Skip fan, I think Stephen A was the draw to that show, Skip was just arguing for the sake of making an argument (IMO).

When I first started watching First Take, it was Skipper and a guy that was a writer UT fan, just can't remember his name. I enjoy it when he was on the show.

Woody Paige maybe? He was on it back when it was still "First and Ten", just segments on Cold Pizza. Thats when it was best IMO, I loved Cold Pizza. Watched it every morning during first block in school and then even after I graduated, every morning before going to work or before class I was watching it.

Dana Jacobson and Jay Crawford, those were the best hosts for sure. Getting rid of Cold Pizza was one of the worse things they did, First and Ten was great as a segment three or four times a show but as a full 1-2 hour long show its too much especially with someone as abrasive as Skip Bayless. When Woody Paige left it really hurt the whole thing.
