At the college level these mobile QB's are the ultimate weapon. The NFL has managed to neutralize them for the most part (except for the elite mobile QB's) because their defenses are so damn fast and disciplined, but at the college level it is here to stay.
Come to think of it mobile QB's at the NFL level are also winning or playing for titles. (Wilson, Newton, etc.)
The last two seasons the college playoff has been dominated by teams with a mobile QB, and I would wager that they will be represented in next years playoff as well. Clemson the pre-season no.1 will be the pre-season no.1 completely due to D. Watson and rightly so.
Times have changed. If you dont have a QB who can hurt you with his legs you are at a disadvantage at the college level. There will always be a place for the Bradys and Mannings in the NFL, but at the college level give me an athlete.
If Barnett is the more mobile of next years possible QB's then I pray to the football gods he wins the job, and I sincerely hope the staff will put their energy into identifying and recruiting mobile QB's going forward.
