and i know what you are going to say..."Our D had the chance to stop them and they didn't. And thats all true but the Refs put them in the position to win. Horrible calls: 2 Pick play TDs, The un-sportmanlike conduct on the last drive. Clemson player pushed and shoved twice and yet we get called. I mean the Refs have to know....this is the last drive of the game....and on such a big drive....come on a few pushes and shoves you separate and keep moving....Oh no! Bama penalty. The pass interference on Minkah was pass interference. However it was not in the endzone(putting it on the 2). It was on the 2 yard line which should have made it half the distance. Giving Clemson the ball on roughly the 6 yard-line. There were others.....But Bama had about 85 yards in penalties. Clemson had 15 yards in penalties. I mean come on Refs. Again I hate to be "That guy" But it appeared the refs, announcers, and everyone else wanted Clemson to win.

I can't really complain considering our best player tonight tried to decapitate their QB twice and stayed in the game. Without him Clemson would have scored 45

The only really bad call IMO was the Humphrey PI on the deep ball. Thought he was just reaching out to catch the ball and home boys head was right there. Great coverage

You stop the drive back on the other side of the 50... you don't let it come down to a rub/pick play in the endzone... 'nuff said.

Pick play or not... We had chances to win that game if our offense plays better. You can't give 99 touches to a player like DeShaun and expect to win...

Looking at the stats, I'm surprised we were even in the game at all...

Our D let them screen pass and slant pass us to death... we missed tackles and let short routes go for 9+ yards instead to 1 or 2. Clemson had more heart, wanted it more, and executed better regardless of the refs.

I'm just glad that QB is leaving... now if that little white kid would too... damn those two!

First of all, congrats on a great season. Don't let last night obscure all the great things your young men accomplished this season.

Good friend that is a Tide Fan and know he's hurting today.

Regret to inform you, but we deal with these refs every darn week. Just imagine, in the national title game, you likely got our BEST crew. What you saw last night isnt necessarily corrupt. It is who our refs are.

Btw the Clemson fan sites were upset over a lot of first half non-calls. Yall are both right. The officials might be corrupt. I've seen a lot of reason to believe that in numerous games. But they are, without a doubt, terrible at their jobs. And the director of officials, to my knowledge, has never done a single thing to fix it.

I confess I half-hoped the officiating might suck bad enough on this stage that enough people would raise hell that something might be done. I coach junior high football. I've seen better officiating crews there.

You hear over and over Big 12 defenses suck. If you noticed, we fared pretty well on defense during the bowl games - often very well. I am convinced refs are the reason.

A few tips for Nick to give yall an advantage when you play with Big 12 officiating crews....
1) there is no such thing as holding -
2) there is no such thing as a pick play -
3) there is no such thing as a lineman blocking downfield on a slip screen - the right guard can run a fade route and it won't be called,
4) there must be at least ten video reviews every game and at least eight must be moronically obvious and unnecessary.
5) the refs have zero understanding of situations. They will intrude themselves into a game and directly influence the outcome. They will make a ticky tack call 180 degrees away from the play to move a team into field goal range in a close game with 10 seconds remaining.

By all means, feel free to raise hell. Walt Anderson is the head of Big 12 officials.

Again, congrats on your season. See yall back at or near the top next season.

i just wanna say that all conferences have refs that can swing a game one way or the other.

we are used to playing for SEC refs and Clemson is used to playing for ACC refs. if you look at it a bit closer, SEC refs seem to let the guys play a bit more and get involved a bit more. it's just the nature of SEC play, we can be more physical and our refs seems to let it go on more plays. so i'm sure playing for refs from a different conference can throw a kink in your plays, at times.

now i'm not blaming the refs or bashing them in any way; just saying that they have a different style and may not be used to our SEC guys, or guys from the ACC.

it certainly looked to be a fairly physical game with both defenses doing some hitting and putting hands out there frequently.

yes, there were a couple calls that probably shouldn't have been called, and there certainly some calls that weren't made...as there are in any game. it's just the way it goes. i mean i'm honestly surprised we didn't get called for holding all game. and i'm sure it happened on more than one occasion, last night.

and if there were some blatant missed calls or calls that were made that really shouldn't have been, then i might have an issue with the refs. but from what i saw there weren't a LOT of those.

the pass interference was iffy, imo. it could've gone either way; it just so happened to go their way in that instance.

and the one in the endzone, towards the end of the game, shouldn't have been called. i never did see the replay so i could be wrong on this one. but to me it looked like the receiver started to fall and our guy just ran into him. to me, that's just forward momentum carrying him into the receiver. if it was different than that, someone can tell me because i honestly only saw the game-speed play and not the replay.

i think overall it was a fairly clean game...with the exception of the 4 freakin' penalties for us in the 1st quarter. kind of difficult to mount any kind of drive when you have that many in that amount of time.

The difference in the game was exactly what most had speculated prior to the game. An experienced senior QB for Clemson... a freshman QB for Alabama who just isn't there yet as far as the passing game. He will get there I think, but he needs more time. It was an unbelievable accomplishment for him and this team to make it this far and to lose by a close margin moreover. One or two completions (maybe just don't drop the ball) and Bama wins by 10. He played ok given the circumstances.

Could we have run the ball with more intent in the 2nd half, held the ball for 7-8 more minutes possession and won by 3-7 points??? I think so, but who hasn't screamed "run the d*** ball!" at the TV all year? It hasn't changed much. We don't do enough of what we do well, and we make way too many attempts at doing what we know we don't do very well.

Roll Tide and looking forward to A-Day

The officials let plays go both ways all night. Our failure to convert on 3rd down cost us the game. Seeing Bo go down early to mid 3rd quarter didn't help either. As so many have already stated, the game hinged on the QB position and the experience or lack of experience they held. I felt confident going in that BAMA could hold Clemson down enough defensively, and that the offense would generate enough points to win.

Back to the officials and Clemson's last 2 TDs. Both were on pick routes if you are a defensive guy or rub routes or man beaters if you are an offensive guy. To me, the PI on Averett at the 2 yard line was probably a bigger call. Averett grabbed and held him outside the end zone but the official said the foul occurred in the end zone and thereby changed the spot of the ball. The penalty should have been assessed half the distance to the goal, the 6 yard line, instead of being placed at the 2. The spot changed the play call for Clemson. They more than likely toss up a fade ball, and then kick a FG and go to OT.

We have just become such a spoiled fanbase. 14-1 is a damn fine season and nothing to be ashamed of. While I hate it for the departing seniors, these young guys got a taste and I'm pretty sure they liked getting that first bite, but the damn after taste will be what pushes the '17 bunch. I had to console my 15 year old son last night and man was it hard. I explained to him that as long as CNS is the HC, BAMA WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE HUNT!! BAMA won't go 8-5, 7-6, 8-5 like some other schools do. Hell! Even the man that eventually replaces CNS will have a shot in their first 3-4 years as long as they don't screw it up!!

I'm going to take a little break now from the board for a few days, maybe even a week. Got to recharge my batteries and hopefully, score during this hunting season. No luck yet!! ROLL TIDE Everyone!!!

I agree with all that is said (with the exception of the OPs title). This game was too hard to overcome with our offensive ineptitude. The D was on the field too long to perform on a high level. The DBs were tired and not closing on the ball by the whole 4th quarter.

Every offensive team has .... "Sprint right rub". I was surprised it wasn't a penalty the first time. The second time was 'on' the defensive call. (fool me once...blah blah) They should have had a 'switch' on because they were obviously lined up to run the play again. If the ball gets knocked down or they get a penalty, we could have stolen the game (and it would have been a steal). We just got whipped.

Funny in Watson's presser he said..."I knew when the inside receiver got the block that it was gonna be a TD". lol.... done told on himself.

Oh well.... onto FSU first game of the upcoming season.

Hard to believe Dieter is an all-time leading WR at Bolling Green.

He had 2-3 costly drops last night. And several throughout the season.

Everybody wants to blame Jalen coz he's "young" or "doesn't see the field" when many times, his WRs aren't helping him out at all...

You said it though... Our D Coordinator/Head coach had to know that was coming. Absolutely no reason not to call TO, switch, or go to a zone. Finish the game with 2 TO's in your pocket and lose on the most obvious play in football under those circumstances.
