šŸŒŽ I got up yesterday morning and turned on the TV to see if I could see a radar shot. Weather, ya know? On every channel it was the Pope.

It won’t be Gavin. I mean he’ll run sure, but he’s not going to be my party’s nominee
If it comes down to the two governors it'll be old school vs new school democrat. I say that based on what little I know of Beshear. It seems to me the monies would be more readily available for a run by Gavin vs Andy. It seems like the AOC "crew" would go Newsome's way. The old school crowd—the Pelosi's, Schumar's, Swalwell's, Schiff's, Water's—would fall Gavin's way.

Again the second most popular governor in the country and being a democrat governor of a very red state should peak a person’s interest.
Are you assuming since he's the most popular democrat gov he's the second most popular governor? Who would be first? That's something I need to think about before answering. I'll bet it's not Pritzker considering he's got what...fifteen or so counties wanting to be a part of Beshear's Kentucky?
I pay attention to anybody that is in serious contention to run for President. Like the right…..obviously Vance is going to run, he’s not going to be the nominee. DeSantis will run and get his butt whooped again. Not sure other than those two on the right
As do I. Let me use Gavin to explain my view.

Today, if I'm a Californian and see Gavin positioning himself for a run (and I believe, as a South Carolinian that is what I see) I'm going to have a hard time taking him seriously in his role as Governor of California. If I see anyone doing that before the mid-terms and they currently hold office? I'm skeptical, immediately.

You're probably right on DeSantis. Haley is another I can see taking another shot. Byron Donald's is one I suspect might jump in (Vance / Donald's would make an interesting ticket.) Rubio has seen an evolution this term. Vivek seems like the type to make another run. I've wondered about Abbott.

In my view the mid-terms can be a game changer on who is considering before they happen versus afterwards.

Gavin and AOC won’t win the nomination, the moderate dems won’t vote for either of them. If dems plan to win the White House then they need to get behind a moderate, somebody that can win the independents, although a lot of dems stayed home this past election because they didn’t feel Harris was left enough, so what do I know? I know who I’ll vote for

No, he’s the second most governor in the country based on polls, First is Phil Scott the republican of Vermont.

Gavin is termed out, so people won’t look at him seriously as CA governor. He’s a lame duck now, so they would expect him to position himself for either a White House run or Senate.

I believe there’s going to be upwards of 15 candidates on the right. Abbott I cannot imagine will run, he’s has more power in Texas in the terms of what he can accomplish, but also he won’t win the nomination, he’d het embarrassed. A Vance/Donald ticket would have to have Donald as the VP because debate wise he’d get whipped, but Vance is a good debater. The thing I wonder is if Vance will have the popularity to run? As VP you don’t hear of him unless Trump allows him in the room. Rubio will get whipped almost worse than Abbott I think. Vivek will probably run. Haley would be an interesting choice. I don’t think DeSantis does any better this time than he did the last time. To me the cycle with the right is much much more interesting than who the candidates will be for the left.

I would agree about the mid-terms

Sort of an "east coast money" versus "west coast money."

Am I reading this correctly? With no nominee, you know who you'll vote for in the next election for POTUS? So, you'd vote democrat no matter what, or rather whom?

We're less than a year removed from you telling me that Harris would wipe the floor in a debate with Vance. And now, you're saying the same about Donald? I think that would be an interesting ticket, but I don't expect it to be the ticket. I remember reading the headlines but I didn't read the story about his announcement to run for Gov of Florida. It was about three months ago...it was in an interview but I can't recall with whom.

A dozen or so? I could see that. I would assume there will be a few "never Trumpers" and a few "neo-cons" though they may be the same person. You refer to Haley as an interesting choice. She's your "neo-con."

It's a bit odd you say we don't hear from the VP when he was being "crucified" the last few months on his comments in Munich.

No, I know who I’m going to vote for nominee, I’m voting for Beshear. But, I’d vote democrat no matter what? Yes, without question, why would you think I’d vote for a Trumplican? The Republican Party has been taken over by ignorance and people like @64Tide that think I’m an enemy of this country

No, I know who I’m going to vote for nominee, I’m voting for Beshear.
If you get a vote on that. šŸ™ƒ

There are two things here. One, a continuation of identity politics (which it would seem to be a lesson learned.)

Lower taxes.
Closing the border.
Reducing the size of government through elimination of wasteful spending and bloated personnel.

Yeah, all the signs of ignorance there. But, it's not found where you are pointing. It's quite ironic you are falling on the end of 80/20 arguments all the while calling 80 percent of the country ignorant. I made a policy vote that was far from ignorant.
like @64Tide that think I’m an enemy of this country
I can't speak to that.

I can say some of the decisions made by the last administration were bad for this country.

Our top nominees Newsom, Beshear, Booker, Buttigieg, Shapiro, and Warnock would all whip Donald’s ass in a debate. I don’t expect that to be a ticket either because I don’t think their egos would handle one of them being the VP nominee, but even more so Donald will try the same shit as DeSantis which is try to sound more Trump than Trump thinking that would get him elected and it won’t.

You don’t hear from him very much, one time he made comments and got ā€œcrucifiedā€, but other than that? Yeah, he’s a behind the scenes and don’t overshadow
If you get a vote on that. šŸ™ƒ

Not identity politics whatsoever. DeSantis tried to be more Trump than Trump and Donald will do the same, that’s facts plain and simple.

80% of the country……I mean since over half of the country didn’t vote I can see where you’d get 80%. Part of your ā€œpolicyā€ vote was saying you’re good with adding trillions to the deficit.

You can’t speak to the my being called an enemy of this country? That’s rich. The fact that somebody would say I’m an enemy of this country based on the constitution and anybody say ā€œI can’t speak to thatā€ is simply ignorant as hell. Based on our conversations I can say I don’t think you’re an enemy of this country, just like I could say that about most people. The fact that somebody considers me an enemy to this country based on my beliefs solidifies two things- one, that some of Trump’s supporters are ignorant as shit, and two- that I’ll always conceal carry and carry in my vehicle no matter where I go, oh and extra credit there are some on that side of political spectrum that are a clear and present danger to people on my side of the spectrum.

I, too can say some of the decisions made by the last dude to live in the White House were bad for this country, biggest one? Staying in the race for far too long

Ignorance is tampons in men’s restrooms. You can identify with that. OWN IT!!!

What "proof" of this do you have? I've seen him...I don't know, two dozen times since he took his position in Congress (I believe that was 2020.) In interviews I've never seen him at a loss for words or contemplative thoughts and insights. You were pulling the Vance debate comment out of your ass. Where are you getting this one?
80% of the country……I mean since over half of the country didn’t vote I can see where you’d get 80%. Part of your ā€œpolicyā€ vote was saying you’re good with adding trillions to the deficit.
Don't tell me you suddenly care about the deficit when you were 100 percent behind the waste of money that has been the last administrations forte. It's seems logical to say, "thanks, but no thanks" to prognostications on what's going to happen with the economy. Why? "Transitory" reverberates in my mind.

If you want to point to deficit, cool. Will the same energy be spent on spending? The CBO projections in January, before he took office, were 5.8 percent of the GDP, as I recall. Bessent's goal is 3 percent. If they are able to cut the projection by almost half...I'd say that's progress.

I can't speak to how he feels. "Rich?" No, simple. I don't recall him saying that. See how simple this is? I don't recall it...therefore, I can't speak on it. Damn, how easy that works. Ya know, if you sit back and think about it for a minute, on occasion we see hyperbole on this site. Quite often we see emotions conveyed in members writing. Y'all have that in common.

I think I've had one conversation with him on the political spectrum. If I'm right, it's when I made the comment at the beginning of the Ukraine conflict that I saw a huge racial conflict in other countries involvement and he disagreed. I may have him confused with someone else.

that I’ll always conceal carry and carry in my vehicle no matter where I go, oh and extra credit there are some on that side of political spectrum that are a clear and present danger to people on my side of the spectrum.

We'll chalk this up, yet again, to the "that's an interesting comment" category.

The assassination attempts. What side of that aisle?
Burning Tesla dealership and vandalizing peoples property? What side of that aisle?
The antisemitism and violence seen at college campuses? What side of that aisle?
Giving people who are breaking the law, the Constitution in fact, free pass into the country? What side of that aisle?
The perpetrators of the mass killings we've seen over the last few years aren't voting or supporting the right/conservative side of the aisle.

My gut tells me you're headed to a J6 where a protester was killed. All the while we're seeing how murky that story was from the beginning.

Talking about the previous administration spending when the dude in the White House added more than any other president just in his first term and will again this term dude. You talk about spending, but ignore that your guy has added more than any other president. They haven’t cut anything in half, you cannot cut something by adding more.

Hyperbole yes, somebody saying somebody else on this site is an enemy of the country is an entirely different thing. ā€œDon’t recall him saying thatā€ meanwhile it’s in a comment just above yours.

Assassination attempt(s)- the dude that fired at him in PA was a supporter of both sides at different times

Burning Tesla Dealerships- the one that happened here where I live was done by a Trump supporter that’s wife was part of the D.O.G.E cuts, can’t speak for the other ones

Protesting the shit going on in Gaza isn’t antisemite, now the cases where there was/is hatred towards Jewish people is wrong plain and simple and I’ve been consistent about that. I think all hate for groups of people is ignorant.

Free pass into the country- Both sides until this year.

The perpetrators of mass shootings- there is absolutely zero data to point to any political side of the perpetrators, so you can’t say ā€œaren’t supporting the conservative side, the only for sure data is 52.3% of perps were white dudes.

As a former cop and soon to be again a cop I look at things from that aspect and J6 was a crime, just as the riots during the George Floyd protests were, there is no difference. As for the person that was killed inside the Capital, nothing is murky, she entered the Capital, was told to stay back, continued to advance, got dealt with, it’s not political to me no more than any other criminal/suspect that attacks cops and gets shot. The violence towards cops that day was no different than the violence we saw during the George Floyd protests/riots

No, ignorance is people like you calling somebody you don’t fucking know an enemy of the country, that sir
Ignorance is voting for and pushing open borders, transvestite story hour, sexually explicit material in elementary schools, Burn Loot Murder, tampons in mens restrooms etc. You identify strongly with your party so I do ā€œknowā€ you.

You talk about spending, but ignore that your guy has added more than any other president. They haven’t cut anything in half, you cannot cut something by adding more.
Now go back and read what I wrote. You missed it the first time. I said the stated goal was 3 percent vs the 5.8 percent that the CBO forecasted before he took office. That projection, as I stated, was for '28. You refer to the deficit when his budget hasn't passed yet. These numbers are from past administrations.

The criticism of his first term is unique. Compared to OBama GDP was higher, Unemployment higher, Poverty rate higher, the inflation rate was higher while real disposable income was lower. The economy was surging until the "China thing" happened.
Hyperbole yes, somebody saying somebody else on this site is an enemy of the country is an entirely different thing. ā€œDon’t recall him saying thatā€ meanwhile it’s in a comment just above yours.
Irrelevant. My conversation is with you.

1) I assume this is in reference to his anti-immigrant posts?
2) Link to the vandal story in your area?
3) Gaza protest on college campuses where Isrealites are blocked from attending classes and using other school facilities. That's what I cited.
4) Technically you are right. This is also where the term "gaslighting" fits perfectly. Yes, it happened under all former administrations. But no, it didn't happen to the degree allowed, encouraged I dare say, that we saw under the last administration.
5) In what little information that has been released about these shooters, I believe you'll agree their traits don't resemble those of the conservative side of things. The violence, intimidation, and destruction is largely, overwhelming, coming from the democratic.

I don't disagree in crimes were found in both situations. I do disagree with the suggestion there isn't a difference between the two.

1) There were pictures of him in Trump gear and he also had tweeted some pro Trump stuff, but again he supported both sides at one time or another. I think some people are just nuts cases.
2) I’ll try to find one at some point. But, his wife worked for the federal government and was part of the Doge cuts, he said himself he’s a big supporter of Trump, but not Elon and his vandalism was a middle finger to him
3) I disagree that it’s antisemite, but think that behavior is idiotic. It’s gotten to a point any criticism of the Israeli government and what they’re doing is being called antisemite by some
4) You’re wrong plain and simple, the right screamed it and you bought it hook, line, and sinker. https://www.cato.org/blog/biden-didnt-cause-border-crisis-part-1-summary
5) You’re so wrong it’s not even funny. The violence, destruction, and intimidation is coming from the left? You can’t possibly be fucking serious. Some faceless dude on here said I was a threat to this country, during covid the right were attacking, intimidating, and harassing healthcare workers, sending death threats, have attacked Pride parades, have continuously called dems a threat to America (the guy you voted for has been saying this for years), but it’s the democrats…..give me a break dude

There is a HUGE difference between the two, one group was violent because their dude lost an election and the other side were in response to the killing of unarmed minorities. To be clear I didn’t think either cases were right

Gavin is termed out, so people won’t look at him seriously as CA governor.
I don't pay a lot of attention to other states and their governors races. There are probably less than a half of a dozen I'll pay a little attention to: a few that intrigue me. One of those is CA. When you mentioned this earlier it dawned on me I had no idea who might run on the R side of the ticket for the office.

(Here's one of those stubborn, OC, ADHD, AC/DC things with me. I thought "I know at least one name" and I refused to look it up. Welp, I didn't.)

A quick Google search for R candidates> CA > gov yielded one name I recognized; Steve Hilton. Aanndd...the AC/DC things kicks in again. I know the name, I've known it for awhile, but I can't figure out how. I do know it was 10+ years ago...and my gut tells me BBC. I can't picture his face. I know his head looks like Stephen Miller (no hair.)

Just to be clear. We're talking about the guy on the roof, right? I haven't seen any pictures of him in Trump gear though that's not surprising if they exist. I use a text only extension quite often when reading.
3) I disagree that it’s antisemite, but think that behavior is idiotic. It’s gotten to a point any criticism of the Israeli government and what they’re doing is being called antisemite by some
How is it not? They are selecting on group of people and preventing them from entering different buildings on campuses. If this were to happen to any number of different racial/ethnic/orientation groups and people would be up in arms about the story.
4) You’re wrong plain and simple, the right screamed it and you bought it hook, line, and sinker. https://www.cato.org/blog/biden-didnt-cause-border-crisis-part-1-summary
Dude. The numbers of illegal crossings set all time records in '22, '23, and '24. I'm right as rain with what I said earlier, and the same for what I'm saying now. You said both side allowed this to happen. I said that was technically true. I also said former POTUS's didn't allow it to the degree this past administration did. And, right as rain there as well. Shit man, name another President that decided to put illegal aliens on planes and fly them past the border agents.

Under OBama The Center for Immigration Studies estimated about 300-400K was the yearly average. An estimated total of two and a half million over the first six, six and a half years of his presidency. A couple of years we saw over 10 million per year under the last administration.
5) You’re so wrong it’s not even funny. The violence, destruction, and intimidation is coming from the left? You can’t possibly be fucking serious. If I have missed all of these conservative/Republicans displaying violence, destruction, and intimidation please link me to some of these reports.

I don't see the comparison. During the BLM riots I'd say the majority of "the right" believed in the message, but didn't believe in the organization. I don't believe we saw conservatives burning cars and buildings. The same can be said today for Tesla: both the dealerships and the vehicles. The Nashville shooter dealing with gender dysphoria: not from the right. The confrontation in from of the detention center. Not from the right. The guy who was trying to kill Kavanaugh. Not from the right.

The list goes on and on...cite me counter examples. Not state, cite.

I think it’s a waste of time for a republican to run unless they’re a moderate, this version of them won’t win the CA governship. There are some states where you know which party is going to win, CA, WY, AL, LA, etc
