as it morphs. I said yesterday that by Wednesday they will have themselves convinced that they should not only be competitive - the should win...and not only win, but they are the favorite, and Alabama is not qualified to play them

As Terry noted, they were a pretty humble bunch after losing to UGA, but I knew it wouldn't last. It is only a matter of time before they make their annual trek to Bama boards to try and convince us how in every way, we are inferior to them.

Some of the posts so far today...

I'm not sold on him [McElroy] yet. I think if Arkansas can force him to make big plays through the air, we have a chance

Cox is a fifth year senior, while McElroy hasn't played an SEC team yet. I think stopping the run will be key for Arkansas, McElroy is nothing but a glorified Casey Dick IMO.

We will win at least one of the following FL, LSU, Bama.
I think it is going to be Bama and FL.

You betcha we can run the football [on Alabama]. For the first time in 10-15 years we can take advantage of what the defense choses to try and shut down.

i just have a weird feeling that Green could have a breakout game? I havent been impressed with his attempts to punch it into the endzone from the 2 yard line, but idk i just feel like he could finally show everyone what he is capable of doing. If we get blocks Johnson Smith and Green will open up the passing game and keep the alabama D frustrated and worn out. If we can control the TOP we will win this game.

Bama is good, but as good as they are on offense we are better. Their defense won't be able to stop Mallett's passing any better than Georgia's was able to. Mallett is just that good, he is far and away the best QB in the country. He has a stronger arm the either one of the Mannings we have seen play the Hogs.

There are more, and the number is growing. It is only a matter of time until they migrate to our boards.

Where is this coming from Darren? Arky board, or on a Bama forum?

In another thread, I recommended you guys check out www.hogsportstalk.com

The owner there is a good friend of mine. And, 95% of those guys are not only knowledgeable, but also realistic.

FWIW, here's an interview Chris, the owner, did with Bama's Ball Radio today.

Pretty good stuff if you ask me.

Right now on the arkie boards...the same ones where they were bemoaning their loss and how terrible their defense is.

I promise you, another day or two and they will be the reincarnation of the Steel curtain defense meets the best offense the world has ever seen! It is their m.o.

Do me a favor, when you get the time listen to that interview and check out his forum.

I promise, you'll see a different segment of fans...the ones I choose to hang out with. AND, you know how little tolerance I have for BS...

I have been a member of hogsportstalk.com for a little while and I have found them to be very respectful and welcoming. After joining and introducing myself they all welcomed me warmly and have never made me feel like a "rival" in any sort. There are some that suffer from homerism, but heck all schools have those fans. I would highly recommend to everybody to give it a look and join.

I better get his autograph.

My gosh imalive1459 where did you go to read that stuff? Never mind, do not answer that because I think I know.

Obviously this Razorback fan has never watched film on Alabama's defense. Ryan Mallett is a very good quarterback, but the difference in Georgia and Alabama is night and day.

The Bama front 7 is so much more physical than Georgia's it ain't even funny. Let's see how Mallett will react to more people in his face this week before we start making comments such as...

"Their defense won't be able to stop Mallett's passing any better than Georgia's was able to"

I'm not going to be the Arkansas apologist for ever fan this week, but people like this need to watch more football and shut their damn mouth.

Arkansas is going to have to try and nickle and dime the football by attacking the corners this week.

That happens on short drops or rolls so the quarterback doesn't get hit as fast. The long play developing play action passes are what Petrino is known for, but this week it will be difficult to set those up because of the pressure.

I'm looking forward to watching this football game win or lose.

Two questions for you, oh resident civil swine.

(1) Do you remember my prediction before last season's game? I had a lot of visiting hog fans in a tizzy. (Being totally honest, I have had such bad experiences with hog fans both online and in real life, that I tend to be somewhat antagonistic and inflammatory where Arkansas is concerned - most of my family is from the Fort Smith area).

(2) If yes to (1) then does my prediction this season hold any more merit?

"Trickle Down Economics and Pigskin Prognostication Week 4" is in production. I will have it out Thursday. To be honest, this is a much more difficult game to predict than last season. I am very confident that we are a much better team top to bottom, but there are so many variables when dealing with an offense potentially as good Arkansas, and a defense that is potentially as bad as the offense is good; because of this, nailing a prediction is next to impossible. I will give it a shot Thursday.

I can answer this because I remember his comments before the game last year. And, like this year, his comments and thoughts didn't match some that can be found on members of the scout network, or some of the other Arkansas web sites that are out there.

TID is the same one who was interviewed in the clip I linked on this very thread. ThrowitDeep = Chris.

That said, a comparison on how fans feel about this years match-up versus how they felt before last years game isn't something I think one can compare Darren. It really seems like an apples and oranges scenario to me.

Last year, due to weather in Texas, Arkansas had only played two games before we face them in Fayetteville—ULM and W. Illinois. While Missouri State can probably replace one of those teams, Georgia can not.

They were beginning to feel excitement last season because of the passing numbers they were seeing. Seriously, seeing Casey Dick putting up 300+ yards per game passing wasn't something they had seen in a long, long time.

Lest we forget, we were also a team that was coming off of a 7-6 season. We had walked over Clemson only to turn around and fail to produce as well as we should have against Tulane.

All that said...

You and I saw this game exactly alike last year.

You called 49-14, hell of a score forecast.
'

I was focused more on the middle of the field, Cody on Luigs. I took some flack for that, but I'm not dwelling on it this year because it's a different year. NOW, I didn't say a thing about a score last year.

My only comment was, "I’ve seen the term “slug-fest” used to describe this game. In a sense, that is true if you consider the battles Cody and Luigs and his guards will face <input name="IL_MARKER" type="hidden">in the trenches."

However, that term will not be reflected on the scoreboard come mid-afternoon Saturday."

There are very few rivals fans that I'll take up for on this message forum. But, TID is one of them. IF Chris was running his mouth, I'd wonder what drugs he had taken as payment for his work instead of cold hard cash—and how many he had taken/smoked/snorted/ran...you get the picture.

I'm betting right now, the things you point to this week and the things I point to this week will be different. Chris knows what I'm thinking...and, when we've talked about this game on the phone the last few days he's not disagreed with a single point.

Please Darren. Please. Listen to the clip.

Thinking back on last year's run up to this game, the Ark fans I talked to were pretty pessimistic. They already knew that their defense was suspect, and realized that they'd just squeaked by a pair of lightweight opponents. While they justifiably liked Luigs, they knew that McFadden and Jones were in the NFL and were less than excited about Casey Dick as qb. They have their share of homers (as we do) but on the whole they are a lot easier for me to endure than vol fans.

The primary offending party would appear to be hogville terry, incase you are wondering.Ofcourse, the crazy isnt limited to there, but that is where it seems to pour out from.

Ive got to go with Big_Fan on this though, as it is becoming closer and coser to what he says every second as the excitement builds for gameday against #3 in the land.

Though I dont know if we will run into problems here, as many respect the odds they will be eating crow come saturday. I think the real problem this year will be Ole Miss fans, they are gonna invade the place on gameweek.

I talked to Darren a few minutes ago and he mentioned that one, and one other site, woopig.

On Ole Miss, I'm not convinced they won't be looking at an 0-1 SEC record Friday morning.

Itd be nice for South Carolina to beat them before it begins. It isnt often the Ole Miss team has the target on their backs. But, if that doesnt happen.....I dont even think they have a majjor independent forum.....God help us.

I'm proud to see that this trickle down guess didn't happen. I think the vast majority of our fans are knowledgable enough to understand where our football team is currently as well as our opponent. Every team has a small group of fans that love to flame the opposing team's board.

Alabama has a great team this year. It's hard to find a weakness to attack.

Here's to a great SEC game and hoping both teams come out injury free.

I got this in an email this morning. It was pulled from Hogville.

To say the least, this guys theory falls apart if he had bothered—if only for a second—to do just a little research.

Could Alabama but overrated?

Just hear me out, they have played one decent team this year in Virginia Tech and allowed 24 points in that game. VTech typically has a good D, not much O yet they scored 24 on Bama. Bama then allowed a horrible Florida International team to score 14 points on them and Bama won 40-14. Their "best" player on offense is Julio Jones, yet he only has 5 catches in 3 games. Ingram is a good running back but is averaging less than 100 yards per game and he is also their leading receiver at 10 catches. Their D is what makes this team great on paper, allowing only 185 yards per game but again, against who? Virginia Tech, a team known for their defense and not their offense. Florida International, who at 0-2 is looking to have another bleak season coming off just 4 wins last year and North Texas, who are 1-2 and went 1-11 last year.

Listen, I know that Bama is Bama and they are a good football team but this is the same team that got schooled by Utah to end the season last year, and that was with a veteran quarterback behind the wheel in John Parker Wilson. Everyone in the media and many on this board want to chalk this one up as a learning experience for the Hogs but a loss, I beg to differ. We by far are going to be the best offense they have faced this season and maybe the best they will see all year. If VTech can put 24 points on the board on them in Atlanta, in what was basically a home game for Bama, why can't we score in the 30's or beyond? If our defense can rise above last weeks performance and make some plays, maybe cause a turnover or two and Mallett and company can put some points on the board early...........WE CAN WIN THIS FOOTBALL GAME!!!

There are SO many holes in his first paragraph it's...well, not even funny.

Just as one example. Yes, Ingram is averaging less than 100 yards per game...out of the 260 plus the team is averaging as a whole.
