🏈 Hurts, Bateman, Barnett and the QB competition

Only kool-aid I'm drinking is that served up by the best coach in all of football. What he says, works for me. Saban says it, I believe it, that settles it... For me, at least. He's coached more NC teams than I have.
Everyone has their blind spots and faults.
Saban does a lot of head-scratching things.
Everyone who attended fall practices/scrimmages was absolutely shocked at the QB announcement - some even saying he was trolling all of us, and would start Hurts.
It's a little concerning that we seem to have a superstar QB talent who outperformed the other two, and won over some teammates and coaches, and he's the first man out of the race.
I would venture to say that starting Bateman is one of the most conservative decisions he's ever made as coach, and I think he's going to pay for it, unfortunately, but might eventually start Jalen when he realizes we actually need an offense. Or, best case scenario is that Barnett takes over and plays lights out. All I know is that Bateman is not the guy. You have to have a high-powered offense in today's game. Trying to hide your QB won't cut it.

I heard, I heard, we heard, "eyewitnesses say", people claim, those that were there witnessed... All of these eyewitnesses... its almost like 90% of them didnt actually witness anything...

I hope Bateman throws four TD passes while the defense holds USC scoreless. Then I hope Barnett comes in and throws another four TD passes while the defense keeps USC scoreless. Then I hope Hurts comes in and leads the team to four TDs (Alabama probably won't be passing at this point) while the defense holds USC scoreless. Let's keep this QB controversy going another week.

I normally try to stay out of the high school drama stuff, but...seriously, did your parents have any children who lived?

My sister will state her opinion and then pull others into her discussion to help support her opinion. Always annoyed the hell outta me when people do that. Like their opinion isn't worth a shit and they need to pull in others to add value.

So according to you, nobody that claims they saw the scrimmages actually saw them?
Or are you saying that unanimous agreements on who was the best-looking QB have no merit because these guys aren't football coaches?

90% of them didn't... is what I'm saying... mass hysteria here... people want Hurts to be THE guy so bad because they want a Manziel or Watson type player so badly (they think he is that person) that everyone repeats the same thing... one guy claims he saw Hurts light up and then it gets repeated over and over until suddenly it has become "sources say."

Just like people on here claim Bateman has a "noodle arm" because they saw it with their own eyes... yet video gets posted to show how Bateman certainly doesn't have a noodle arm and the claim still goes around.

My REC buddy saw the last scrimmage and said the only thing he liked was the defense. He said that based on what he saw none of the three stoud out, and pass protection was a problem. He also said that the longest run of the scrimmage was five yards. Defense is way ahead of the offense.

I can show you where multiple reporters with access and verified "insiders", all said the same thing about the QBs. Last year Boz was saying how awful Coker was, but nobody backed that up. This year, EVERYONE was saying how awesome Jalen Hurts looked in fall camp/scrimmages.
Of course everyone wants a dangerous dual threat. That's the name of the game these days on offense. Jalen is absolutely that, and would start for A LOT of option read, no huddle offenses around college football this year, including several in the SEC.

Sorry, I thought Phil Savage was a legit source.

"Phil Savage actually reported from the Manning Passing Camp that Bateman’s balls tend to flutter beyond 20 yards."

Yet we can watch video of that not being the case... so I guess Phil was wrong... My point zoomed right over your head. Not to mention saying something "flutters" a bit and having a "noodle arm" aren't exactly the same thing.

Aaron Suttles saying that someone TOLD him that Hurts was a world beater is not Suttles seeing it himself... again... my point...

There are always people who think that they are smarter than the coaches. Saban by his own admission says that experience and knowledge of the system trumps a lot of things. Cooper has some multiple game experience and coaches don't think he will get rattled... thats why he is starting. If he performs poorly, he'll change him. Heresay and novice opinions don't mean anything...

Ole noodle arm Bateman I guess is what we should call him...

Video is mislabeled by the way (Thats #18 throwing that "fluttering" pass)...

Does he have the arm strength to sustain that? Don't get me wrong, I am not in the "hate camp." I hope whomever they put in there can make the best use of the WR Corp. I realize that kid only part of the equation, but I don't think it's him. However, I will be Pulling for him, or Hurts, Barnette or the mystery guest if theta is who lines up behind center on Saturday.
