šŸˆ Hurts, Bateman, Barnett and the QB competition

Shannon B. Terry @sbterry247
#Alabama QB Bateman is trending down this fall, Barnett is improving and Hurts has won the coaches and team at this point. Only real decision 4 UA coaches is what is best way to develop Hurts? unless there's a sig change, he will be the QB by mid-season

Why are you talking about height and weight as if that is the intended comparison ? The Comparison would be both of them having a goal line/short yardage package as their role on their respective teams to get their feet wet in the league.
Yes, whether you can handle it or not Hurts is proving to be a player that the staff will either start from day 1, or they will find a way to get him some snaps. His athleticism could help in almost any capacity, but the tough yards down around the goal line do make sense for a guy with his skill set.

Also, I recall you getting snippy whenever anyone mentions that BB8 was a turnover machine this past spring. Reports are BB8 had another 4 turnovers this past scrimmage. Yikes ! Almost seems like a pattern, huh ?

I used height and weight because that was the freaking point of the Tebow package being a goal line/short yardage package. How is that difficult to grasp? They were using him as a big ass fullback pounding it up the gut.

I hope Hurts does prove to be as great as everyone hopes, just because I'm not sipping the Kool Aid that people that CLAIM to be watching practice (with zero evidence that it is actually true) doesnt mean I dont want to see Hurts be the guy.

And I got "snippy" for the same reason as everything else, its nothing but rumors and people claiming to know more than they do. Guess how many turnovers you KNOW Barnett had? None, you weren't there. Just like I wasn't.

Regardless I just want the guy thats gonna win to be there, I couldn't care less which one it is. I'm not also sitting here proclaiming to know something I dont...

Boz was there.

The absurdity of your insistence on this stance isn't lost on anyone. People saying what Shannon has said aren't media. And they're track record is extremely accurate

Whoa! Who pissed in your Wheaties? All I'm saying is that the media and everyone else who can't watch practice don't have as much insight as they think they do, nor what they say they do. Based on what I hear from former players who attended the last scrimmage, Hurts will no doubt play, but Bateman will get the start. Saban isn't ready to put that pressure on a true freshman, on a neutral field, in front of a national TV audience. Interceptions by all QBs were due to the secondary being extra good and an over abundance of trying to throw the long ball.

I'm for whoever CNS picks. I just get tired of the media professing to know more than they do (not just in sports). Anything that knocks them down is good with me.

Don't expect CNS to announce his choice until the game. If it's Hurts, he may still line them up in the media viewing period as Bateman, Barnett, Cornwell and Hurts just to throw USC off.

Ive never heard of TDAlabama, but he claims to have a source that says its a done deal.

With the Alabama Crimson Tide wrapping up its final scrimmage of fall camp, I have been told by sources close to the team that Alabama coach Nick Saban will name true freshman Jalen Hurts the starter for the Tide. This will be the first true freshman quarterback for Alabama in decades.

Hurts has impressed both players and coaches since he stepped foot on campus in January and emulated Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson in preparation for the CFP National Championship.

So this would be the most exciting development of any camp ever, ammaright ?

TDAlabama has award winning writers who don't worry about grammar and spelling. I only saw one typo in this short article - his misspelled Stephen A. Smith Stephen M....

The offense I want to see isn't one that is relying on a QB to get tough yards around the goal line. If this Bama offense can't get a couple of yards behind the left side of the line—including two blocking tight ends—there are a couple of more pressing issues. It's personal preference. Period.

One defender having to spy Hurts is one less defender in coverage. Thats a big deal when dealing with a shrunk field. JMO
