🏈 Hurts, Bateman, Barnett and the QB competition

I have no idea why yall keep using the Tebow comparison, just stop. Tebow was pretty much a big ass tailback or fullback as a freshman in that wildcat. He was about two inches taller and a good 40-50 pounds heavier. Tebow would, most of the time, come in and just run a direct snap straight up the gut with a couple of jump passes here and there. That is not what Jalen is.

Here's the official report from Boz over on the SEC Rant:

"Summary:

Qbs order IMO

Hurts
Bateman
Barnett

I think hurts is better because A his arm is better and B he is a great scrambler.

Bateman did well but threw some really bad passes

Barnett as you read in the thread just stunk tons of turnovers

Defense is on another planet, RBs really couldn't do anything, prevatt they blocked quite well.

Secondary is awesome

OL did well considering just hard to push on those guys

Evans was next to Rueben in nickel so I think he may have overcome Hamilton

We have some good WR but tons of dropped passes

That's the gist, hard to say what they will do between Bateman and hurts. Waiting on saban to come address my group."

Curious...did the dropped passes occur equally across the board of the QB's? Or did a particular QB's style of throwing seem to cause the drops?

Reads like any scrimmage recap found on any site on the 'net. The way some of you guys wax his knob kills me.

I have a friend (former player) who went to the scrimmage last Saturday. I asked if Hurts was the real deal and, based on QB play, who did he see starting. His response: "Hurts is real good, yes he is the real deal but he's a freshman. The other guys weren't that bad the secondary is really good. Coaches were trying work deep ball all day . Bateman will start against SC and I think Barnett will come on later in the year."

TIFWIW.

I seem to remember an SEC championship again against us that I wish he would have just tried to run the ball... he kept making passes in that game that were unbelievable. He had a lot more ability than just a wildcat QB, not pro-level QB... but more than adequate for NCAA level ball.

Dude what are you talking about? I was pretty CLEARLY talking about his freshman year (I even flat out said that in the post) when he was just a wildcat QB playing behind Chris Leak.

Why are you talking about height and weight as if that is the intended comparison ? The Comparison would be both of them having a goal line/short yardage package as their role on their respective teams to get their feet wet in the league.
Yes, whether you can handle it or not Hurts is proving to be a player that the staff will either start from day 1, or they will find a way to get him some snaps. His athleticism could help in almost any capacity, but the tough yards down around the goal line do make sense for a guy with his skill set.

Also, I recall you getting snippy whenever anyone mentions that BB8 was a turnover machine this past spring. Reports are BB8 had another 4 turnovers this past scrimmage. Yikes ! Almost seems like a pattern, huh ?
