🏈 How many yards does Coffee have next year?

If he stays healthy and remains number one, I'd think he'd get another thousand. If he matches his output this season, he'll be about tied with Darby for number three all-time rushing. His season this year fell just short of Humphrey's record-setting 1,471 and 6.2 yards per carry (1,347 and 6.1 ypc).

Great question. Tough question. Too many variables for my two brain cells. How does the line regroup? How do we use our Receivers? WHO are our Receivers? What about Ingram, remember CNS likes a multi-back approach? Is the QB play steady enough to maximize our offense? Will they activate the Mercy Rule against Auburn in the first half? Will Coffee stay healthy? Is Glenn exempted from the new tax on Coffee? How good are out non-conference opponent's run defenses?

If our three headed monster of a running back rotation stays intact and Richardson comes in, I don't see Coffee getting as many carries as he did the season just past.

Maybe I missed something. Is he definitely returning next season? I would think after the bowl game he would, but these guys don't always think like I do.

Does anybody think we'll be doing more passing with McElroy at QB?

If we can upgrade at the receiver positions we will throw a bit more, IMO. If we don't do as well as we expect on receivers this time, I think next year's offense will look a lot like this years.

I say that if McElroy shows more consistency than what JPW had, then we may open it up a little more. It may be that gives the line time to gel a little more. Don't expect to see us slinging it 35-40 times every game though. Though, I do recall a game a while back where a LSU QB threw for 528 on us in BDS. The head man was CNS. They threw a route that they called 80 CAB, like 20 times that day. Our corner played soft and they took the 10 speed out like candy all stinking day.

That would have been Russell, Clayton and Duper taking us apart. The miracle of that game was that it stayed close as long as it did. CNS has always had the offensive philosophy that if a defense is going to give him something, he will certainly take it.

Psycho, I may be mistaken but I thin kit was before Russell. I think it was Rohan Davey that slung the ball all over the field. Russell was the back up then if he was even there yet.

Yep, it was Rohan. I mentioned the other night that our backfield hasn't looked as bad as it did the other night since that dreary day back in '01. :?

Since we're dredging up painful memories, the 2003 Ole Miss game where Eli lit us up for 24 in the first quarter wasn't too nifty, either.

I definitely see that happening. Also with Coffee, Ingram, Upchurch, and now Richardson. I don't see Coffee getting all the yards he got this season. probably about 900-1,000. Richardson might even be redshirted, but I can see him shooting up the depth char much like Ingram did last fall.

Depending on how Upchurch mends, it could be another 3 headed monster in the backfield and depending on who has the hot hand that determines how many yards Coffee gets.

Let's not forget competition for carries from this year's spot duty guys and redshirts, too. Jeramie Griffin showed he had a power running game, and could be functional in Upchurch's spot if he doesn't recover from his neck condition. Ivan Matchett is a bruising back, and he's reportedly had a productive year on the scout team.

As a whole, I'm very excited about our corp of running backs next year.
