🏈 how long does Charlie Weis last at ND...

with more successful coaches losing their jobs this year, I'm curious when ND finally gives Weis the boot. I'm sure you could argue getting rid of him and keeping him around another year.

His first two seasons, he finished 9-3 and 10-3, then he closed 2007 with a 3-9 mark and this year looks like he will break .500 as he is currently at 5-4 and should finish the season 2-1 (anticipating a loss to USC to close the season out).

He is one of the top 3 paid coaches (oh yeah...Saban makes $4M a year) and isn't delivering on that salary in my opinion.

just curious what others think about their coaching situation and how ND will address it (speculation of course)...

AMEN!! :o :( :? :D

I've been tellin the Fighting Leprechauns up here that he'll be gone sooner than later. The only reason they haven't pulled the trigger is that they supposedly have to pay him 2-3 million for every year remaining(7). ND is 1-15 in their last 16 against teams with a winning record.

Thing is, if Weis gets canned then ND goes after the cocky turd in Gainsville. Remember, Meyer was their first choice.

Yes, Meyer was the first choice of Notre Dame. In fact, the reason they fired Willingham so abrubtly was to clear the decks for Meyer.

But, despite the hard-sell push by the Domers, Meyer turned them down for a program in which he had zero prior experience.

Now that Meyer has four years invested in a great community in a fantastic state (football aside), what makes you think he will leave for South Bend, IN?

Notre Dame cannot outpay UF. Notre Dame cannot offer a more productive recruiting base than UF. Opportunity to win a National Title? Weather (are you kidding me)?

The best choice Notre Dame has is to hire away the UF President FIRST and then make a coaching change. Dr. Machen hired Meyer at Utah, left Utah for Florida, and then hired Meyer here. Machen and Meyer seem to be a two-for-one deal. (And Machen is about as well respected at UF as Dr. Witt is at UA - so we will not be letting him go without a fight.)

I have to say one thing alagator in response to money. I do believe that ND could throw out the big money if they truly wanted to go after him. I agree with the facts that talent wise why leave FL but ND has always recruited on the national scene and not from within Indiana. If ND did that then they would never win. Weather is great in FL and sucks in IN as well. He could be an independent as ND is and get into a BCS bowl as an at large and not have to compete against the toughest conference in the nation. Besides USC, who is really worth a crap on ND's schedule year in and year out? Michigan and Michigan State but they are down. Don't be surprised if ND doesn't at least ask to speak with Meyer again.

Good points UAGrad......Meyer openly stated that ND was his dream job. And money is without a doubt a non-issue when it comes to putting someone in the HC position. They have it if they need it. Granted UF is in a recruiting mecca, but as UA stated ND recruits nationally.

I heard on a radio program several years back that Meyer asked for something like 6 athletes on the team that only had to meet NCAA requirements as opposed to ND requirements. They simply said sign the contract and he politely declined. (Sounds good anyway)

I say all that, but last week we were discussing whether or not any team has come from outside of the top 25 to #1 like we have this year. On DandBradio they said the only other team to do it and win the MNC was Texas...........Tim had a link to an article out of USA today that said something like 6 teams have done it. :?

So just because I regurgitated the Meyer story from a radio program.........doesn't make it fact.

his buy-out is HUGE and ND will not fire him. They need someone to take over the program and with a few pac-10 schools and possible 8 homes games i think they will just live with him and see what he does in a couple years. Remember that ND is not a SEC school. They will keep him for a couple more years to see if he improves!!!

p.s. is ND....WHO GIVES A ...?
