🏈 Hot Seats and Coaching Changes - EX UA coach, Billy Napier to ULL

Talk about a culture change from Grantham to Edwards.

I think ol' Herm will be good for the game. He'll get the ears of a lot of media personalities and he's been a pretty stand up kind of man in my eyes.

Oh no doubt. Herm is a man of integrity, and I think he'll fare well at ASU.

He just didn't strike me as the kind of guy that would ever care to stick his toe in the college coaching waters though.

There's no disagreement here. At all. I was shocked to hear the news.

One thing I'd caution people here. We, as a fan base, are just three years removed from hiring a guy to coach kids who had no college coaching experience. He had a great resume in the pro's including coaching experience. He's done a hell of a job. We've seen it work in Tuscaloosa. Isn't it a rush to judgement to call it "DISASTER" straight off the jump @uagrad93

IMO, Edwards carries a presence. It can translate in the right homes as well as in those homes where kids need that figure. We're talking Arizona State here. They've been in the PAC for 30 or so years now with less than five conference titles. I want to say their last one was either '06 or '07 under Erickson (whose name I've seen circulated around these last few days as well.) It was his first season so some of that credit goes to Koeter.

{Unrelated note: Have you ever looked over the names of coaches that have coached at Arizona State? I'm betting A LOT of you will be surprised. Devine, Erickson, and Cooper to name a few.}

Personally, I wouldn't have asked the question. I can understand where the fan is coming from with his loyalty question.

IF I would have asked the question there's no damn way that staff member would have done that twice.

Yep, that second push would have shoved me into Seminole folklore. Jimbo was absolutely insulting the intelligence of his audience to think he was getting away with doing that show.

It is hard to believe that these schools get stuck with such huge buyouts for coaches. The AD's/Presidents/BOT's are at fault for this mess. A&M,ASU,and 10RC all paying near 10 million to get remove average coaches (known from the get go). Perhaps Nick started this parade.

Watch the ridiculous buy out that Auburn is about to stick themselves into.. if Arkansas doesn' land him..the buyout for Malzan will be off the chain after being on the hot seat for the last 2 years at the dumpster fire in Opelika

Mike Leach to UT? Will this happen?

According to the vol-meter and countless volnation polls, this is a go. This is at least candidate #12 and I'm a believer that Currie is running this search by the fanatic lunatics that participate on these websites. All things considered, this one makes more sense that most of the usual suspects they have run out there.

How did Saban start this parade when he never has had a buyout?
The 4.5 million he was paid (worth 20) to take the Bama gig.......most SEC schools have been trying to duplicate that feat since 2007. Paying huge money to average at best coaches. Then again with the money received from the SEC Network each year I guess in a way the money is free.

Money for nothing and chicks are free...Dire Straits with backup singer Hugh Freeze

How does Taggart stay at an elite school for only one year without looking like a complete golddigger? Don't these coaches have anything invested in their jobs besides a paycheck?

If I'm seeing Sumlin, who didn't do **** after Johnny Drama left, get $10+ million, regardless of his landing a gig, then I'm wondering what loyalty means any more. SEC, Longhorn, and ACC Networks, the money flows and apparently it's my agent's job to make sure I get a good chunk of it.
