You guys remember the days of Tyler Watts vs Andrew Zow and how polarized the board was over that? It's getting nasty on TS.com.

Ahh the old days.

I think Sims is talent, and he'll be a solid quarterback at BAMA. One thing that we witnessed yesterday was a lack of experience IMHO. Practices and scrimmages just are not the same as the real thing and I think it showed with Sims.

If I had to bet, my money would be on McCarron as the starter for the rest of the season. I think Sims gets some meaningful p.t. this weekend, but if he doesn't really impress, I think the qb controversy is effectively over.

If AJ continues to look as sharp as he did yesterday, it should be his job to lose. I say as get Sims as much PT as you can to see if he can get up to speed by the time the conference schedule starts. With his talent, getting Sims as many game snaps as possible is critical.

I'm more concerned about the offensive line.

And it is DEFINITELY both ways... and this isn't just an assumption...this is me hearing and reading what people (who are making me sick) are saying... black folks that only want him out there because hes black and "not the white boy" and white folks callin him the n-word and sayin he cant lead the team because of his color... i dont want those types of fans on our side. It makes me physically ill that ppl can still think like this.

Amen.

The best QB in the state is always Bama's back-up.

I think it is ridiculous but yes, race will be a factor in the eyes of the fans. AJ is, and should be, the starter. Simms is talented but showed why 0 game experience is a killer. He will be a good one for you guys if he sticks it out. This just isn't his time

I think its two different issues. I think back in the Franchione/ Dubose era when they had both Watts/ Zow it was unfortunately a race and style argument. One I didn't think Bama fans then were ready for Zow because one he was more of a pure passer and two his race (I hate to say it). Then you had Watts who was an option QB and was the popular backup coming out of high school. See Brodie Croyle/ John Parker Wilson, the backup pretty boy is usually the best QB in the state. At one point Zow held the all time passing record and is still one of my favorite Bama QBs.

As for today I think some Bama fans saw what a Cam Newton did for Auburn last year and they are expecting a tall athletic QB like Simms to have a similar impact. But AJ may actually be the better option mostly based off his time in the system. I could see Simms being the man next year or two. He just needs the experience.

sad but true...we still have people who consider color when choosing who they want to play.

In the past i think we had coaching staffs (or parts of them) that thought the same way and/or could be influenced by the Admin and boosters on who should be playing.

With our current coach I dont see that happening. He is going to put the best players on the field regardless of color and will not be infulenced by others to make that decision.

With DuBose, we had what I would call reverse discrimination. He'd play the more talented guy and it wasn't well received because people disagreed with his opinion. I'm not saying his opinion was right, but it was his opinion.

The race card being thrown into this issue really isn't as bad as some would believe. Granted, we are recruited against with the card "Alabama doesn't play black QB's." That was one of the lines Winston had this season from a former QB that happens to be coaching at FSU.

There are internet posters that throw that into the equation. The staff doesn't.
