If the new playoff was now the sec would have 4 teams in and LSU left out at #13. Then, what if the last 4 teams were all sec teams? Major wailing and gnashing of teeth!

This is what I always told people who wanted to expand the playoff to be more inclusive. The more games you add, the more advantage you give to the deepest rosters ... in other words, the teams who recruit the best ... in other words, the schools with the biggest budgets ... in other words, the same teams dominating now.

What if the most democratic and inclusive system was the original system that invited the top 8 teams to the 4 top tier [New Year's] bowls (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Cotton) and later add a 5th top tier bowl (Fiesta) for 2 more teams, and allow the victors of all these bowls to claim bragging rights???? We will never see a Boise St-type Cinderella win a 12-team playoff.
