🏈 Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry

Speaking as a caucasion American, what's Wilbon trying to do? The votes are already in and there's nothing anyone can do about it now. From what I understand the Heisman awards the best player not the best player of any color. I have typically agreed with every person awarded, except 2, in the last 30ish years. We'll see what we'll see and congratulate any of the three that win. All three are deserving or they wouldn't be there. Stepping off my soap box now.

I love PTI; I've been watching it since it started however many years ago. Because he is an ESPN employee, Wilbon has to drink his coffee, water, or whatever out of an ESPN mug. If he could, there are days, however, when he's better off drinking out of this:

Not so shitty that you scoff at the yardage he accumulated
I agree one can't take away from what he's done. We can't simply ignore the comparisons of the type of defenses he's faced. As example, there are five or six teams Bama has played this year with better run defenses than the ones Stanford has had to play in their conference. The best defense they played was N'Western and he didn't break 70 in that game.

In my opinion, but have to be weighed equally.

And, I don't think it really matters in the end. I've gone back to 2009 looking at betting odds on the Heisman. Vegas has been right every time. I truly suspect a lot of these nation discussions/commentaries are based on companies/sites trying to be all-inclusive so they at least get some attention this weekend. IF McCaffrey wasn't being lauded, what would the ratings look like for the award? Abysmal, except in the SE.

My neighbor, who is a WVU fan, just walked up to me and said, "did you know that Bama has had finalist in the Heisman five of the last seven years?"

Yes, I knew that. But, out of "respect(?)" I said, "really?"

I did add ... if Bama happens to win the title this year and Henry wins Saturday ... that'll make four NC trophies, four SEC trophies, and two Heisman trophies ... all added to the trophy case in the last seven years.

Think about that for a minute. UN-FREAKIN'-BELIEVABLE.

Well I completely agree, but simply saying he amassed over 3,000 total yards against crappy defenses is not a good argument in my eyes. He did something no one has ever done, gaining the most total yardage in a single season. Some of the best players ever played nothing but shitty defenses and still couldn't gain that many yards. The fact he did what he did against whoever is something. Once again, just not a reason to discount the guy or belittle his achievment.

Not to mention 2 Butkus winners, Remington, Outland, Belitnokoff, etc....

Not taking anything away from McCaffery with this, but why does he only have 13 TD's with ~3,500 yds.
