🏈 Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry

I just mentioned this in another conversation, but aren't the votes already submitted?

I can't remember the deadline, but I remember it being very quickly after the conference championship games.... how else would they know not to invite certain players?

Yes the votes are already in. Either ESPN is in the know, which is why they waited to update their rankings, for the votes to be tallied or its just pure sensualist guesswork.

The votes were due Monday at 5pm Eastern. Finalists were announced a short time later. Vegas odds
While I think Henry has definitely sewn up the trophy, if you have cash, it may not be a bad $200 bet to throw $100 on each, Watson and McCaffrey. Watson has a shot. But that's if anyone has two extra bones laying around.

If this weren't already a done deal then maybe it's not a bad bet. But the votes are in, and based on the Vegas odds I'd be amazed if they didn't have really good inside information. There's no way Vegas is going to lose money.

I'd almost be equally amazed if scary looking men with bent noses weren't handing unmarked bags to the persons responsible for the ESPN and SI articles for encouraging betting on anyone but Henry. OK, maybe that's a tad dramatic. But I don't think either article comes from an honest perspective - other than they honestly want more people clicking on their links with no regard for the integrity of their content.

The actual votes themselves are traceable. But those who know the vote count before-hand not so much.

OK! the votes are in but we won't know til Saturday night. I see the ones that are putting Henry down is only doing this because, want to stir the pot as much as these guys can do. Won't be happen unless these guys doing this.

Last night the sports editor for one of our stations in Louisiana told me that Henry would win the Heisman because voters don't watch West Coast football. He's a Clemson guy ... Auburn with a lake, right?

My response? Who is Mariotta?

McCaffery is a great athlete doing it all for a team who apparently doesnt have much else. But i think if you have Henry and McCaffery on nearly equal levels where you are comparing the two then you just need to look at one thing. When the game is on the line Bama gives Henry the ball to score points and win games. When Stanford gets in the red zone apparently they bring in a different RB to score the TDs because his back up has 5 more TDs than him.

I ran across a few conversations yesterday about Wilbon (PTI) pushing this theory. I'd scoff at it IF I hadn't witnessed the same in Tuscaloosa.

Speaking as a caucasion American, what's Wilbon trying to do? The votes are already in and there's nothing anyone can do about it now. From what I understand the Heisman awards the best player not the best player of any color. I have typically agreed with every person awarded, except 2, in the last 30ish years. We'll see what we'll see and congratulate any of the three that win. All three are deserving or they wouldn't be there. Stepping off my soap box now.

He has played against some shitty defenses. Who in the PAC-12 plays defense ?? I rest my case.

Not so shitty that you scoff at the yardage he accumulated. I may be wrong, but put Henry'S last two years of total yardage together and they still don't add up to McCaffrey'S total this year. Give credit where credit is due. Henry deserves the win, but 'shitty defense' doesn't apply here due to schear volume.
