🏈 Hearing we can expect NCAA opt outs to begin any day now.

I just don't see sitting out a year as a good thing, seems more risk vs the reward.

It can be! Just depends.

I think we can all agree that Tua was an elite draft prospect that was valued in that 1-3 range before the season. Even dropping from #3 to #5 costs $3.3M. Pretty significant.

If there actually is a football season, we will certainly have a better idea of how GM's evaluate the dudes who sit out... Which could ultimately sway how elite prospects approach & value their junior season.

Exception, many here didn't think Tua would be drafted where he was given his injury.

Many think they're going to get drafted and end up UFDA.

What did he gain by playing the last two years? They said he would have been #1 two years ago. You can't say he has progressed, atleast not to me.

Beats me, but sitting out more than one year feels different no doubt. But what's the difference between two and three years of college experience at his level? I doubt pro scouts care, and now that he has a legit reason to sit (not to mention seeing what happened to Tua last year) I don't see how anyone other than die hard Clempsun fans could blame the guy.

virtually no reward.
I do not see it that way. So many things to gain. On the personal level he can enjoy playing with his team among many other perks as a college kid. On a professional level he can grow his football skills but maybe more importantly some intangibles related to leadership etc... Also, he finished what he started and committed to do. To me the last one speaks to your character.

Some may not value these but I value all of these very highly. Maybe I am misreading your "no reward" with value.

Fair points for sure. I suppose I was focused more on advancing his football skills, which I would still have serious doubts about.

As for his commitment, while that's true, scholarships are also a one year deal. I have a son who is a D1 athlete (golf) and there's a lot of pressure to keep his game up. There are no guarantees from the school. Some may contend that works both ways.

If he sat, and Fields didn't, where does the trophy go?
Secondly, which player is drafted higher?

TL would get a combine invite, I'm sure. But, working at game speed...

Man... Were we ever spoiled with Minkah Fitz?! He was the perfect for Saban, at the perfect time. Really nothing he could not do in Crimson. Prodigy!!
We're about to be spoiled again.

This defensive line is no joke.

And, I'm getting the feeling we're going to see something on offense that's legendary. Bookmark this.

And throwing ten SEC games against this team. Shit.

Agreed. I'm so intrigued with the weapons on O... I actually think having the big 3 at WR (Mechie) will make life easier for Sark, as opposed to trying to keep 4 guys happy. Especially with Mechie has an under the radar guy right now. With Najee back and better than ever, no doubt we have an elite RB. Throw in Sanders, a quality option in Robinson, and these freshman... Looking fantastic. OL has experience, talent, depth. TE's a little questionable but if we find 1, that will be plenty.

That DL has all the makings of a special group. Still interested to see who outside of Barrimore will be in the backfield... And more importantly, get the QB to the ground. Freshman class likely has some players!

@TerryP please give a little more color to your legendary offense. Stacked RBs behind a strong line, watching the WRs amaze, or a sitting QB/freshman phenom dynamic?

Do tell...
