🏈 Hand Injury- out for Tx A&M with MCL strain- may miss more

Nick Saban provides update on Da'Shawn Hand injury
Also about Diggs foot.

The injury suffered by Alabama defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand against Ole Miss Saturday night is probably an MCL strain, coach Nick Saban said after the game.

Hand will be further evaluated on Sunday.

The preseason first-team All-SEC selection was injured on what could be classified as a dirty play during the third quarter. While Hand slid toward Rebels running back Jordan Wilkens on a run up the middle, Ole Miss tight end Dawson Knox dove from the side at the lower part of Hand's left leg, which bent awkwardly upon contact.

The senior didn't put any weight on the leg as he was helped off the field. He was eventually carted to the locker room and never returned to the sideline.

Like Hand, cornerback Trevon Diggs will be further evaluated Sunday, Saban said.

Diggs suffered a right foot injury while returning a punt late in the first half and didn't return to the game.

He eventually returned to the sideline on crutches and with a walking boot on his foot.

I don't condone attacking college kids over social media but the Knox kid is getting lit up on Twitter. After seeing him dive at Buggs knees a few plays after Hand injured, I'm struggling not to join in.

It was intentional! They ran the exact same play in the 1st quarter, their 1st or 2nd series with it still scoreless. Travis Reier tweeted out the play. The Knox kid went high and whiffed on Hand.
@planomateo, do you follow Reier, and if so, could you find and post that tweet?

You're pretty spot on @TerryP . It can be a lot like an ankle sprain in the sense of being very aggravating and linger.

With the shape these athletes are in, along with the amount of specialized therapy they receive, I would imagine a couple weeks.

I know you have eluded to the fact that with some of these injuries that Saban will sometimes have guys play banged up and/or be pushed on the fact when it comes to being "healed up". Having said that, with our schedule looking fairly easy, I wonder if he will not push him too much. I know we are in the heart of the SEC schedule, but after aTm is Arky and UT. I think of those 3 aTm will be the best we face. I could see giving him a little extra time to come back for LSU after the bye week and have Hand at or pretty close to 100%.
