šŸˆ Gruden to Vols Rumors

Gruden has given hints over the last year or so that he isn't done with coaching but I dont know how appealing college is to him. There's gonna be a cpl high profile NFL jobs open in a few months, possibly Philadelphia even.

I definitely think that Gruden is headed back to the coaching ranks, but I still see him as an NFL coach.

From what I hear, his wife is from Knoxville, and is actually the place in which they originally met. His first coaching gig was at UT as a Graduate Assistant. I don't REALLY know much about the situation, but IF (and that's a big IF) Gruden were to come to College Football, I think UT would probably be one of his top choices. They'd have to cough up some cheese, no doubt.

All of that to say this - I just don't see Gruden coaching in College Football...he seems like an NFL guy to me. And I certainly don't claim to be in the know with UT's financial situation, but I'm pretty sure that they're still paying Fulmer's buyout, and if they fire Dooley this year he has a $5 Million buyout...to put another $5 Million per year contract on the books would be a lot to ask...which is about the minimum it would take (atleast in my estimation) to get Gruden to even consider UT.

I see Gruden getting the gig at Dallas. Just my 2 cents, Dallas needs a coach cause they are underachieving. Coaching in the NFL, where just about every team that needs one would put him on their to get list, would certainly sway him before UT would. Now someone like Smart or a few others would not surprise me.

There's the key point.

Where are they going to get the money?

The TN athletic department is in serious hurt right now financially. They did turn a profit last year—to the tune of less than $15,000—and that is after they raided their cash reserves to make sure the athletic department ended up in the black.

I don't know. Seems to me that it would be a major personality clash between Chucky and Jerry Jones.

Eh, I've heard Gruden to Bama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas. I have a feeling the rumors of "Gruden to x school" are just a tradition at this point.

His wife being a previous University of Tennessee cheerleader could help make it an easier sell to the rumor mill :)

I agree w/ ya, he does get mentioned for each new job whether its college or NFL.

Wasn't he also a GA at UT? Don't see it happening, because I figure he would have took it when Dooley got the job if he was interested, but it is interesting.
