🏈 Going to the SEC Championship Game and Need Info!

@TheChief, I don't know if they will hold or not. I had a friend of mine selling a pair of his for $225 apiece. He was telling me that he was trying to make a little money and that the seats were going for $300+ on places like stubhub and ticketcity. I told him that I had someone interested. I checked online since this someone is a relative. I saw those prices and immediately told her to buy them from there. Again, face value is $100 for upper deck seats. Mine came via UPS this morning!!

I am thinking about taking my son only because the ticket prices on Stub Hub and others are plummeting. They were at $150 this morning and you are already seeing some around $100 tonight.

The Varsity is about atmosphere only. We'll probably just go into the CNN Center Food Court.
If you like a beer before the game check out Taco Mac, Stats, or the Biergarten all right near the stadium.

A lot of Presidents have visited McDonalds, Five Guys, and various other places. Sorry I just don't like the Varsity and there are much better places to recommend to people visiting Atlanta. The Vortex, Cypress Street Pint & Plate, The Silver Skillet, etc They can get greasy hot dogs and burgers in the Dome.

The Varsity is about having someone yell "What'll Ya Have?" and having a greasy chili dog and greasy onion rings. Worth doing once. Have the kids get a fee paper hat.

You are absolutely correct that there are better places fairly close. I want to second Cypress Street Pint & Plate. At the corner of 6th and Cypress on the backside of the Biltmore. Cool neighborhood bar with good food. It's my home bar. The special today was Turducken Pot Pie. Tasty. And their house brew is Sweetwater IPA, just $3 a pint. Their burgers are better than the Vortex.

Just up the hill on Peachtree between 10th and 9th is Hudson Grille, the official Bama viewing spot for the Bama in Atlanta Alumni. It's large, but gets crazy packed. Local chain of good food called Marlows is good (closest is on West Peachtree and 8th), and a great farm to table brewpub just off Howell Mill near 10th is called Five Seasons. Food and beer is absolutely awesome there.

I am now hungry..

I don't ever recall a president flying to a specific location and making it a point to have McDonalds or Five Guys. It was just a suggestion anyways, and one countless people would give when talking about Atlanta. If the guy has kids, he can't get into The Vortex as you have to be 21. Silver Skillet is the bomb. Marymacs is also dynamite. All depends on how much time you want to spend eating compared to taking in the festivities.

What's the Alabama/Mizzou sections in the Dome? On Stubhub it says upperdeck 333-339 are Missouri fan zone. Everytime we've gone to a game in the Georgia Dome the split has been half and half.

And this may be a mute point since there will be a lot of Alabama fans all over the place.

I went to fanfare in '08 and thought it was pretty lame. Maybe it's gotten better but unless you have kids I don't see the allure.

I echo what others have said about the Varsity...go somewhere better like the Vortex. If you feel like walking and are a fan of good beer, go up to the new World of Beer in midtown.

And for the love all, do NOT go to Underground.

I have two in Section 236 if anyone is interested or knows of anyone that may be. I'd like to get $300 for the pair. A little more expensive than the nose bleeds, but great seats where you're not up in the rafters.

I agree. MAYBE worth trying once for the Whaddyahave? experience - just to say you did it....but that's about it. There are soooo many good food choices in Atlanta. The Varsity is pretty darn bad food, actually.
@AFF You are not being a realistic Southerner. Going to the Varsity once for a Southerner is equal to a Texan going to the Alamo. It has a long and heralded history, more so than any other place in the south. It was there in 1969 and is there bigger and better in 2014. How can you not pass up two (death rods) Chilly Cheese Onion Hot dogs with fantastic fries or onion rings and best of all a Peach soda to wash it down with. Wow I am getting epic heart burn just thinking about it, but I will have to go there the next time I am in Atlanta. There is nothing like it except Miss Pitty Pat's Porch.
