🏈 Go on record- do you think we get in CFB or not?

@UAgrad93 I have a question for you bc you played QB at Bama and coached for a long time. What do you see that needs to be fixed with passing in blitz situations? We are really missing the mark here in my opinion bc we continue to try to throw long, slow developing routes. Why does CRG continue to do this? Why does Ty not see the pressure and call a hot read ie; a quick slant, a tight end pop or something? TY for considering the questions. As a long time coach my self, I continue to see things, especially on offense, that drive me crazy?
To me, it looks as if we have no hot routes. Slants or sit down/stick routes to right behind the blitzer. I don’t know if Grubb has Ty making dummy calls in attempt to bait the defense and then stick with original call or what. Mike, WAY back when I was in HS, my HC and OC gave me the ability to change routes. We basically had 2 calls, slant or hitch. Simple hand signals. Homer Smith used them as well. Sometimes these coaches, just outsmart themselves.

What he's saying is deboer being unwilling to make a change when it's needed at the QB position. I'm still baffled by yesterday, and how he continued to trot out Simpson. At that point, put in someone else and see if they can spark up the offense and get it going. Sometimes you have to.
Okay that sounded better. Maybe it was the way he worded it. Now I understand.

Congrats to Team Yes. Big win over the doubters. And to the few who were actually hoping Bama would get left out (because you're scared, or mad), and you know who you are... that's about as much of a loser mentality as you can achieve.
I ceratinly said 3 lossess disqualified us. I was not hoping Bama would be left out I was just saying with 3 losses we shouild not be in. I know we can agree this Bama team is not measuring up. Now with Bama getting in I am going to root for them to get healthy and get it turned around but I am not seeing a lot that gives me hope that it will happen. I HOPE it does but my eyes tell me something different.

I guess what us old school guys have to accept now is that the playoffs are not about finding the best team it’s about finding the hottest team and the luckiest team as far as injuries and other bullshit. I agree with you fully I think. It’s a whole New World when it comes to college football. If we had any balls, we would go back to the old BCS system and have the top two teams play if you’re not in the top two stay the hell out.!
That’s one of my rants this morning roll MF Tide!!!

I agree completely. We are moving to all 136 teams in the playoffs and the regular season is irrelevant.
Plus, we are basically a pro league now $$$$.
Takes a lot of the fun out of the sport.
Of course, I'm just an old fart stuck in the past.

From what I've read, as long as he's outside the tackle box, and it gets beyond the los, regardless if there's lineman down field, it wouldn't be a penalty. I'm still looking through all this shit to see if that's actually correct though.
Possible! A lot of moving pieces there. Just a guess, but I bet those big uglies breathing down Ty’s neck had him thinking about all possibilities.

My understanding: Two different infractions - intentional grounding vs ineligible receiver downfield. If the QB is outside of the tackle box and throws the ball beyond the LOS, there is no penalty for intentional grounding (a receiver does not have to be in the area). An ineligible lineman (a lineman can be eligible if he is not covered by a receiver and has checked in with the referee to let them know) cannot be downfield (more than 3 yards) when a pass is thrown downfield.

That is pretty much what I was saying in response to @50+yeartidefan . Throwing the ball away seemed simple enough since he was out of the pocket. The problem and penalty was going to be ineligible downfield because it was a run play and we were going to have linemen going to 2nd level. The result was ugly enough, but could’ve been potentially much worse.

Intention grounding is spot foul n lost of down ( except ez).
Lineman illegally down field is 5 yard penalty from previous spot.

So chunk it.

Over n done with. Moving on.

All 136 is a great idea!! Round Robin, national champion named after 7 years or so. We have to be all inclusive and can’t discriminate against the teams that lack talent. When you think about it, the teams with the worst records need more practice and games to improve. Just name them all winners at the end of the and everyone can feel good about themselves and nobody gets their feelings hurt.
