Ok, so this is kind of fun to just get opinions out there and blood flowing. This is an excerpt from Rivals about the Playoff possibilities...
Finally, letās pretend youāre the college football playoff committee and the following things happen, what would you do? This could make you dizzy.
⢠Scenario No. 1 ā Alabama loses to Auburn, Auburn loses to Georgia and Ohio State beats Wisconsin. Clemson beats Miami and Oklahoma wins out. Alabama is 11-1, Georgia 12-1, Ohio State 11-2, Wisconsin 12-1, Clemson 12-1, Miami, 12-1, Oklahoma 12-1. Who are your top four?
⢠Scenario No. 2 ā Clemson loses to South Carolina but beats Miami and Alabama runs the table. Do both Miami and Clemson get in from the ACC, Clemson as a two-loss champ, ahead of either the Big Ten or Big 12 champ?
⢠Scenario No. 3 ā Wisconsin runs the table but Auburn beats Alabama and Georgia and wins the SEC. Assuming the ACC gets one spot, OU gets another and Auburn a third, does Alabama with one loss fall behind Wisconsin or do the Badgers get screwed?
⢠Scenario No. 4 ā Ohio State wins out beating ranked Michigan and Wisconsin and Oklahoma loses a game. Does Ohio State get in with two losses, one of them to Oklahoma, over the Sooners with two losses?
⢠Scenario No. 5 ā Alabama loses to Auburn, Auburn loses to Georgia and Miami, Oklahoma and Wisconsin win out. The records: Alabama 11-1, Georgia 12-1, Miami 13-0, Oklahoma 12-1, Wisconsin 13-0. Is Alabama out?
I happen to think that even with one loss, either to Auburn or Georgia, Alabama gets in. I still hold the idea that no one is considered the National Champion unless they can get past an undefeated or one loss Alabama team. Oklahoma's loss to Iowa State is the worst loss on the board and will be of the teams considered, unless Ohio State rolls in with the Iowa ass whooping, which would in turn be the worst loss. Call me a homer, but with our talent and roster, you simply cannot leave us out for a team like a Wisconsin, Oklahoma, or anyone. We're the biggest draw in the nation and we've built that reputation by going out there year after year and dismantling folks, all this with a huge target on our backs. All of that will be taken into consideration, plus our schedule is looking better and better with LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn, and potentially Georgia.
Scenario 1 response - Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Clemson
Scenario 2 response - Alabama, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Clemson
Scenario 3 response - Auburn, Oklahoma, Miami/Clemson, Alabama
Scenario 4 response - Oklahoma gets nod due to head to head and that Ohio State got smoked by Iowa.
Scenario 5 response - Georgia, Miami, Oklahoma, and Alabama
