🏈 Girls and Football

Hey Cheer,

Great post. I think more guys should take the time to teach their girl some football. Maybe if the guy gives more time, he may get more time. Just a thought. Do I sound like a pissed off gf? LOL

What do you want to learn? You dont need to know coverages, pass routes, etc. You only need the basics to follow it. Check around too. Sometimes they offer football camps for women so they can learn. Not a bad deal really. Then you may know more than him. lol

It's funny but I learned alot of X's and O's on X-box 360. When I play it online I tend to lean towards a solid run game, good d, and mixed up play action, crossing routes, screens, and tossing it to the flats. I don't go in for that run the QB back for 30 yards then chuck it style at all, and usually blitzing both corners at a player like that with zone coverage in the flats will get me a pick six everytime:).

When i realized that I started recognizing formations while watchign real games I kinda thought that these game woudl actually be a decent teaching tool for kids.

If you're gonna play football on a game system make it anything but a Wii...;)
I prefer NCAA over Madden.

As long as a person knows the game and what they're talking about or they're willing to learn the sport, I could care less what sex they are. I've see a lot of men that know less about football then a lot of woman know. I see that actually a lot here in Ga. I'm not sure what it is, but there's a lot of guys riding around in my area sporting Dawg tags, clothes etc. that don't know jack about the team their advertising for! I asked a guy the other day at the gas station what he thought about Smart staying at Bama and not coming "home" and he admitted he had no clue who Kirby Smart even was! This was the same guy that was standing there in a UGA hat, shirt and his truck was plastered with UGA garb from front to back...

Classic! UGA fans are stupid.

As far as the Wii, I play Madden with my son on it because it has that All-Play feature where its 5 on 5, 50 yard field, 4 plays for a TD, and they look like bobble heads. He's 6 so he gets a kick out of it. I play NCAA on my 360, and love it!

Well I can understand playing the Wii with kids. I bought our Wii because of my kids as well. They love it. I will admit there are a few games I truly enjoy on the Wii. The new Mario Bros is an awesome game. You sound like me, I play my serious stuff on a PS3. We got the "family" games for the Wii. ;)

They absolutely love the Legos series. Batman, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars on Wii. And they are fun for adults too.

Dude, I love the Star Wars and the Batman Lego series. I have both of them for Wii and PS3. I got a deal on the Star Wars and landed it for PS3 for like $15.00 and I had picked up Lego Batman for the Wii and PS3 when it came out. They're both fun games to play with the kids or without. :td:

My wife couldn't tell you the different schemes. Especially defensively. She knows a little more on offense though. She is pretty cool about talking only during commercials especially if it is not game related.

When we first started dating she thought that she was a Tennessee fan. She learned very early in our marriage that she wasn't. lol!!!

I know not all guys feel this way, but I have to call bunk on some of this. I know that I've intimidated more than a few guys along the way with my football knowledge. Some didn't like it at all. I never figured out if they didn't like that I knew and cared that much about football or just that I knew more than they did.

My husband loves that I love football as much as I do, and that's saying something considering I love his biggest rival. :a:

They don't like it because they have issues with a female knowing more than they do.

I think its great, we sit next to an older lady that has probably forgotten more about football then I ever knew and she is always on par with every player and their number and position. I think its awesome!!

I don't mind talking football with women. I would be the first to admit my knowledge of the X's and O's is somewhat limited. However I can't stand talking to someone about football and them start making stuff up.... it annoys me greatly.

I'll give an example that actually happened the other day. I was working and overheard a couple of people talking about football. I only heard a minute or so of the conversation but here's what made me shake my head.

Guy #1 (Bama fan) You know FSU and Miami don't want any of Bama right now.

Guy #2 (ACC fan) I wish FSU/Miami was in the SEC, maybe that would shut some of you up.

Guy #1 (shouting now) FSU and Miami both were in the SEC and got out of it because they were scared. Both got out!!

Guy #2 and #3 ...............

That's all I heard but it was enough. :headscratch:

P.S. I don't talk to anyone during Bama games though.

Guys:

How do you feel about girls that know and love football? Should the girl 'talk football' with the guys, or just stay quiet and enjoy it? (reminds me of the commercial where the girl says, 'Blitz?! They will just check off to a screen.') Should she get into the games, or just smile and look pretty? lol Should a girl play flag or touch football if she is athletic, or pass? Should she play Madden or Wii football?

I look froward to my fellow Bama fans' opinions and suggestions.

Thanks!

Girl or not if they know football or want to learn, I say let them talk away. As for playing... I see nothing wrong with girls playing anything except tackle football. It makes me cry to think of them taking a hit. I did play a few times where the girls could tackle, but the guys had to use the flags. I will never do that again. Girls can be down right vicious given the chance.

I dont believe every guy thats a fan knows everything about the game. I bet there are a fair share of fans that played in HS that know just as less. My dad is one. He was a LB in 1969 and I am shocked at how little he seems to know.

Also some know plenty about Alabama, but very little about the rest of the country.
