🏈 GAME THREAD: SEC / NCAA games of the week (10/3)

The team with the most significant win of the year, now holds the most significant loss of the season. They haven't even hit the meat of their schedule, so I think they 'the toast playoff wise. They keep proving they're just not ready for the big stage yet.

I do think this is telling that no one team is superior this year, yet we have a pack of teams that are good. It's gonna get interesting folks.

Wow, watched the highlights this morning at the gym. The PAC teams are going to knock each other much like the SEC. Rich Rod has done some work in Arizona, and I'm sure the humidity agrees with Mrs. Rich Rod's hair. They better watch out for UCLA next week.

Tim

I updated the thread title to reflect the SEC/NCAA game thread.

Interesting comment from Ivan Maisel.

2. According to the stats gods at ESPN Stats & Information, unranked Texas hasn't beaten a ranked team in Austin in six years, while No. 7 Baylor has defeated 15 consecutive unranked opponents, all but two by double digits. I bring this up only because for nearly all of the 50 years before this period, if you read the previous sentence, the words "Texas" and "Baylor" would be transposed. We are now conditioned to think of Baylor as a Big 12 power and Texas as a team trying to climb. Once in a while, take a step back and consider how amazing that is.

Oregon just never had the complete package. Poor Mariota, he seems like a real good kid and a great player, but that o-line failed him miserably last night. And yeah he fumbled at the end but games shouldn't come down to one play like that. He got sacked what, 5 times? And all season he has basically carried the team on his back. That's a lot of pressure for a guy already facing his last season and his last shot at a Heisman. Gotta feel for him.

Oregon still has a good shot at the playoffs though IMO. I do not think we will have any unbeatens come playoff time, and like I said earlier, better to lose earlier than to lose later.

Wonder how this impacts Michigan State's loss though. Does it make the game less meaningful? Things are gonna get interesting!

Oregon's OL has been their Achilles to date. They were playing last night after having lost 4 to injuries in the first third of the season. Mariota had spent the weekend against Wazzu on his back and the Ducks were lucky to survive then. I don't think the Ducks will go the rest of the way undefeated. STICK A FORK IN THEM!! THEY'RE DONE!!!

Remember? They're the class of the Pac - whatever number they are now. They beat Michigan State. And Oregon was so good that Michigan State was going to "run the table" and be in the playoff even with that loss.

But wait! Oregon lost? Really?

How can this be?
